It is that time of year and some of our players went to prom! You ladies sure do clean up nice! We hope you had the best time and cant wait to see you back on the field at Milkyway Park!

Lets talk small ball. Why? Why would you NOT incorporate this into your game? (Guess who is writing this post)

Hear me out everyone….Its smart, it builds confidence, it fabricates runs, it creates chaos, there is an element of surprise, it keeps the defense guessing, and man is it fun!

Every single one of your players should be able to bunt. I know mine can!

Don’t believe me…? Check out this fun little situation from this weekends college games;

Abby Dayton for Oklahoma is at the plate…Let me give you some stats on her…She is batting over .400, has 8 home runs under her belt , she rarely strikes out and almost always puts the ball in play. Not bad right?

Even with those stats - head Coach Patty Gasso, (The Goat) calls a squeeze…with their catcher on 3rd. Whaaat?
(Gives me chills )

This bunt was perfectly executed and their catcher, Kendall Wells slides into home with more excitement than if she had hit a homerun. (Know that name? Well thats because she leads the NCAA in home-runs as a freshman! I would say she knows a thing or two about being excited after a HR.)

Guys this isnt Rocket Science- it’s strategy.
You can’t win games if you dont score runs.

I get it - hitting dingers is awesome and really exciting- (Oklahoma has 169 of them in 52 games) but they still incorporate strategy- they still did this!

So- if you think you are too good of a hitter to bunt- or that you are too slow- or your team is too good or whatever excuse you have- think again!

Well it was a miserable evening however a few cuties still braved the weather to support the Hornets and our Lady Sting Players! All three of our Lady Sting girls played great! Miranda, Ava and Maddy we are proud of you! Thanks 10u - you rock for coming out and cheering loud and proud!

Parents… yeah, this one’s gonna p**s some people off. And I don’t care

Got off a flight, walked into my daughter’s basketball game, and boom—there it is. One dad on the other sideline losing his damn mind. His daughters team getting beat by my daughter’s team and instead of letting his kid compete, he’s barking every second like he’s coaching the finals.

And his daughter? She’s not even playing anymore… she’s performing for him. Every possession she’s looking over like, “Did I do it right? Am I good?”

That’s not development. That’s control.

And let’s stop dressing it up like it’s “passion” or “being competitive.” Nah. That’s ego.

Because if it was really about your kid… you’d shut up and let them figure it out.

You think yelling louder is helping?
You think embarrassing them in front of teammates, coaches, and a full gym is building toughness?

It’s not. It’s making them tight. It’s making them doubt.It’s making them scared to mess up because they know the second they do… you’re coming.

And that car ride home?

Yeah… that’s where the damage really hits.

You’re replaying every mistake. They’re sitting there quiet, shrinking, wondering if they’re ever gonna be enough for you.

But sure… tell yourself you’re “pushing them.”

Listen—if your kid can’t play without constantly checking over their shoulder for your approval… you’ve already lost.

You didn’t raise a competitor. You raised someone who’s scared to fail in front of you.

And that’s on you.

I’m competitive as hell. Always have been.
But you will NEVER catch me hijacking my kid’s experience from the stands like that.

Say your piece before the game.
Be a damn parent during it.

Because your job isn’t to control every play…
it’s to build a kid who can handle the game when you’re not there.

Let them play. Or be honest… this was never about them in the first place.
