Sign the petition at protectpt.info/SB504. Community energy allows renters, homeowners, and business owners to subscribe to a shared local renewable energy site and receive credits on their electric bills. SB 504 is straightforward proposal that will bring cost-savings directly to consumers while also adding capacity to our grid. Ask your Senator to help bring these cost savings to PA!

This morning, we held a press conference at the Department of Environmental Protection’s Southwest Regional Office to demand that the DEP reassesses and mitigates the danger of radioactivity in landfill leachate across PA.

A recent DEP report and press release declare that radioactivity in landfill leachate poses “no risk to human health” (Jessica Shirley, DEP), despite their own evidence demonstrating anything but.

Per DEP testing, landfill leachate in several landfills across the Commonwealth demonstrates radioactivity levels exceeding Nuclear Regulatory Commission standards for waste material from nuclear power plants.

A coalition of environmental groups is gathering to demand a thorough risk assessment and sufficient protections for public health.

Did you know? May is Watershed Awareness Month!

A watershed is a central area that all water in a region - from seasonal rains, to snow melt, to unnamed streams - flows into. Our home office in Harrison City is located in the Turtle Creek Watershed, but this is just one of ten across Westmoreland County!

Understanding our watershed is critical to knowing how to protect it and the people and animals who rely on it for drinking water. Stay tuned this month to get a peek at how our Environmental Science Team keeps tabs on our watersheds to protect our water supply!

Do you live in Upper Burrell or Allegheny Township?

We're working alongside the community to advocate for a moratorium to all new data center use applications. Currently, Upper Burrell and Allegheny Township lack sufficient protections to prevent harm to residents' health and well-being by data centers. Join us in calling on your municipal leaders to say NO to new data centers and institute a moratorium until these protections are clearly established!
