The Protective Buffers PA campaign invites you to save the date – October 7th, 2026 — for an action at the PA Capitol in Harrisburg. This fall will mark the 2 year anniversary of submitting our rulemaking petition to the Environmental Quality Board, so once again, we’re going to our government’s doorstep to remind the DEP and Governor Shapiro that we need increased drilling setbacks now. With the rise of hyperscale data centers driving increased demand for fracked gas, this is the moment to get involved.

Our event will begin at 12:30pm in the Capitol Rotunda. We’re arranging transportation options for concerned residents and those impacted by fracking operations to come share their stories. More details to come!

Thanks to the dedicated residents of Upper Burrell, we have successfully urged the township’s commissioners to pass a 180-day moratorium on data centers! But the real work starts now; Staying engaged throughout the municipal process, and continuing to show up and remind the commissioners that we aren’t going anywhere.

To keep you in the know and make your voices heard, we are starting a monthly community meeting for Upper Burrell residents! Drop in to share your thoughts and learn about the ins and outs of the TecFusions data center proposal!

When: Wednesday August 26th, 6:30PM - 8:00PM
Where: Penn State New Kensington Campus (Science 140 Classroom) 3550 7th Street Road, New Kensington, PA 15068

Since the DEP released their report on the presence of radium in local landfill leachate, Protect PT and our partners have been hard at work pushing our state enforcement agencies to acknowledge the dangerous risk residents face from radioactivity in their waterways. We’re proud to announce that your actions have made an impact. After 4 months of advocacy, we’re sitting down in Harrisburg to talk to DEP leadership about how they can protect our communities.

But it isn’t over yet. We need everyone’s voices to tell the DEP to make good on their obligation to Pennsylvanians.

Stand up for your community by signing our advocacy letter before August 24th. When you sign, an email will be sent to key DEP decision-makers demanding better from our state’s enforcement agency.

Tomorrow!! luma.com/hhn-oxtu. Join the party at 7pm on Monday, August 17th. The EPA is proposing to eliminate minimum federal public participation requirements for many "minor source" air pollution permits, the very permits often used for diesel backup generators at data centers. If adopted, communities could lose guaranteed notice and the opportunity to comment before new pollution sources are approved.

This comment party will help you learn about the proposed rule and submit your comments before the August 21 deadline.
