Food For His Children

Food For His Children Rescuing Tanzanian children from extreme poverty so they can become all God created them to be.

Since 2008, Food for His Children (FFHC) has provided Christ centered community development and humanitarian services to families and communities in rural Karatu, Tanzania, targeting those with income below $1 per day. Our vision is to eradicate extreme poverty so that children and families have food to eat, medical care, education and the ability to work towards their dreams and that families and

communities can become all God created them to be. We desire to see families and communities able to sustain themselves without relying on outside resources. We do this by providing a micro loan of a dairy goat, pastoral care, faith-based training in entrepreneurship, animal husbandry, agriculture, health, environment, leadership, and savings; one on one case management and coaching, goal planning, and veterinary care services. Food for His Children works in over 40 sub villages in Karatu District serving almost 400 families. Through this ministry, individuals and entire communities are transformed.

Meet Hamis.

In 2022, Hamis received the first of his dairy goats through the Food For His Children program. After that, well, it's a story we never get tired of telling.

His goats provided nutritious milk for his family. Then they multiplied. And when the time was right, he sold some of the young goats to help pay for his daughter's university education. That's right, his goats are sending his daughter to university.

Now Hamis is building a brand new shed for his growing herd. Better shelter means the goats stay safe, stay healthy, and keep multiplying.

One goat. One family. That's all it took to start.

"Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord, who walks in his ways. You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands; you shall be blessed, and it shall go well with you." (Psalm 128:1-2)

Meet Martina, a dairy goat farmer from Kilimamoja Village.

Martina brought her goats in for vaccination, which helps to protect the entire herd. Thanks to Food For His Children's animal health experts, families like Martina's have access to the care that keeps their goats, and their livelihoods, happy, healthy and thriving.

"You, Lord, preserve both people and animals." Psalm 36:6

Meet Maria.

Maria has been part of our program in Qaru village for a while now, working steadily on the 17 Points of a Healthy Home. Her latest achievement: a strong house with no leaks, built with her own hands and the support of our field officer, Edward.

Through the program's mentorship and shared goal-setting, Maria made the choice to see it through, and she didn't stop until it was done. Today her home stands strong, sturdy, and finished. She's happy. And so are we.

"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9

Meet John Bura, from Sima hamlet in Mang'ola Juu village.

John recently applied to join our program, and after a home visit and interview with our team, he was approved. His first goal: building a goat shed. Once that's done, training and his first goats will follow.

This is where it all begins for a family like John's, a home visit, a conversation, and a family ready to do the work.

You can help us take the next step with John. Your support helps provide the dairy goats that will give his family milk, income, and a path toward the future he's working for, a stronger home and an education for his children.

"Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin." Zechariah 4:10

Meet Christina, from our Kilimamoja project site in Karatu, Tanzania.

When our field officer Aneth visited recently, Christina was doing well. Her goats were healthy, her shed was clean, and she had plenty to share.

The dairy goats she received through our program have become a cornerstone of her family's stability. The milk feeds her children. The income from selling milk and goats covers school fees, food, and household needs. And right now, Christina is in the process of finishing her home.

One step at a time. One goal at a time.

She is not waiting to be rescued. She is building something, and she is doing it herself.

"Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her." Luke 1:45

Today is World Humanitarian Day, honoring the people who show up for others, day after day. Our Anatoly Daniel is one of them.

Anatoly is one of our agriculture field officers, and recently he visited a family in our program and found a field clean, well managed, and bursting with healthy crops, grown through consistent training and a family that refused to quit.

Watch the video to hear Anatoly tell the story himself.

"You care for the land and water it; you enrich it abundantly." Psalm 65:9

Meet Anicia Silayo, Agricultural Officer at our Farm and Innovation Center in Karatu, Tanzania.

As a learning hub for the families and local community, the Farm and Innovation Center (FIC) teaches sustainable farming practices that can be taken back to homes and villages. Anicia oversees everything from planting and irrigation to crop health monitoring and pest control at the FIC. Her work is part of what makes the Farm and Innovation Center more than a demonstration site. It's a professionally run program built to last.

This is what your support makes possible: real training, real expertise, and real food security, for families now and for generations to come.

"Today things have changed, because I have a business."

Meet one of the women building a business through Street Business School in Qang'ded. In her own words: "...I'm able to step in and support my family through the work of my own hands."

Look at that smile.

That is Safina, standing in the middle of what she grew.

Safina and her farm have become an example of what happens when good agricultural training meets determination and faithful follow-through.

What does she do with her knowledge? Why, she invites her neighbors to come and see her farm and learn from her success. They walk the rows. They see what is possible when you plant at the right time and believe the harvest is coming.

One farm. One woman. An entire community learning what is possible.

"Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others." 1 Peter 4:10

Cooking is at the heart of every home.

In many of the families we serve in Karatu, meals are prepared over an open fire on the ground inside small enclosed spaces. It is how it has always been done. But smoke fills the air, burns happen easily, and children nearby are at risk. A raised fireplace, like we see here, changes that. One simple step that protects the health and dignity of an entire household.

This is what walking alongside looks like, not just meeting immediate needs, but helping families build homes where everyone can thrive.

"She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness." Proverbs 31:27
