Today we celebrate the life of a pillar in the Harker Heights community and Central Texas as whole.
Mrs. Jean was a longtime fan, supporter and sponsor of the Harker Heights Jr. Knights program. She wanted zero recognition and was always there to give back to our youth and our community.
We are forever grateful for the impact Mrs. Jean and Mr. Bill have had on our program. Although we are sad, we rejoice in the fact that they have reunited in Heaven.

Remembering Jean Shine — A True Fort Hood Good Neighbor
Today, we mourn the loss of Jean Shine, a remarkable Central Texas leader whose life reflected service, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to Fort Hood Soldiers, military families, veterans, and the community.
Named a Fort Hood Good Neighbor in 2001, Jean became a trusted bridge between The Great Place and Central Texas. As a Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army, she was a steadfast advocate for Soldiers and their families.
Her service extended beyond Fort Hood. Through Wreaths for Vets and the Friends of the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, Jean helped build an enduring tradition of honoring our fallen and bringing the community together in remembrance.
Jean embodied the very best of the Army and epitomized the spirit of why Fort Hood is the Great Place.
Our deepest condolences are with the Shine family and all who knew her.
