Friends, today we have an unusual request: one of our former foster dogs is in need of help, and we're hoping you can share his story far and wide.
Fievel came to us about 6 years ago from one of our shelter partners in the south. He was looking a little worse for the wear but was a sweet boy who had clearly never been a house dog. Despite having no real training or manners, Fievel beat the odds of being a pit bull and was adopted quickly by a patient couple who were committed to helping him learn how to be a gentleman. He still has not mastered the art of housetraining, but he is loved and spoiled as he deserves, and we have received happy updates on his new life throughout the years.
This week, Fievel's vet found a tumor on his spleen. With no way of knowing if the tumor is cancerous, or if/when it will rupture, surgery is Fievel's best option. We don't know his real age, but Fievel's vet (who also happens to be our vet) feels that he is a good candidate for surgery and has recommended proceeding. This is obviously not an expected expense for Fievel's family, but they are once again committing to doing what they feel is best for Fievel: instead of saving the money by declining the procedure, or surrendering Fievel back to us so we can foot the bill, they are moving forward with surgery.
Fievel's family did NOT ask us for financial help, but after putting so much into Fievel's physical and mental health I feel like we have to at least try. I am always transparent about where your donations go, so I want to be clear about this fundraiser- Fievel, God willing, will have many more years of being safe and happy in his forever home, and that home is part of the GOT family ❤️
