Things I’ve Learned From Over 30 Years of Marriage

• Love is a choice you make daily, it’s not just a feeling because sometimes those feelings aren’t there.
• Pray together, especially when life feels hard.
• Grace matters more than being right.
• Forgiveness keeps small hurts from becoming deep wounds.
• Apologize first, even if you think the other person should.
• God must remain at the center, not just in the background
• Seasons change—learn to grow together through each one.
• Communication builds connection; silence builds distance.
Protect your marriage from distractions, busyness and the children.
• Laugh together and often. Joy strengthens the journey.
• Cheer each other on through dreams, struggles, and growth.
Keep dating each other. My husband says he is always learning new things about me.

30 plus years later, I’ve learned that a God-honoring marriage isn’t built on perfection—it’s built on commitment, grace, forgiveness, and keeping Christ at the center of it all.

Marriage Monday

We all give and receive love differently—and understanding that can transform our relationships.

The Five Love Languages remind us that love isn’t one-size-fits-all:

• Words of Affirmation – speaking encouragement and truth
• Acts of Service – showing love through helpful actions
• Receiving Gifts – thoughtful reminders that you’re seen
• Quality Time – being fully present with one another
• Physical Touch – a simple hug or hand to hold

When we learn how our spouse feels loved, we can love them more intentionally and deeply.

Take the Love Language test along with your spouse to find out each other’s language of love.

Discover your primary love language and how you can use it to better connect with your loved ones.

Your story is not finished. God is still at work, faithfully writing a testimony through every chapter of your life. Even in the moments that feel broken, confusing, or painful, He has never left you. What the enemy intended for harm, God is transforming for good and for His glory.

Thank you God for your redeeming power—for taking pain and giving it purpose, for turning messes into a meaningful messages, and for using every part of this journey to bring hope, healing, and encouragement to others. Nothing walked through is wasted. May your work in me be a testimony point others to You, reflect Your goodness, and glorify Your name.

You are enough!

Just because you are struggling with your worth doesn’t make God’s Word any less true.

Your feelings may shift. Your confidence may waver. Your circumstances may whisper lies. But none of those things have the authority to rewrite what God has already spoken over you.

If you feel unworthy, that doesn’t cancel the truth that you are chosen.

If you feel forgotten, that doesn’t erase the truth that you are seen.

If you feel not enough, that doesn’t undo the truth that you are fearfully and wonderfully made.

God’s Word is not validated by your emotions — it stands on its own. On the days you feel strong and on the days you feel small, His truth remains steady.

Struggling with your worth doesn’t make you weak; it makes you human. Even faithful people in Scripture wrestled with insecurity, doubt, and fear. Yet God never retracted His promises because of their feelings. He doesn’t retract them for you either.

When your thoughts say:
“I don’t measure up.”
God’s Word says:
“You are My workmanship.”

When shame says:
“You’ve messed up too much.”
Grace says:
“My mercy is new every morning.”

You don’t have to feel worthy to be worthy in Christ. Your value was settled at the cross, not in your latest success or failure.

So if today you’re fighting silent battles in your mind, hold onto this:
Your struggle does not cancel your identity.

Your doubt does not diminish your calling.

Your feelings do not override God’s truth.

Stand on what He said — even while your heart is catching up.
