Through our two lines of service – Home Health and Hospice – the VNA of Hanover & Spring Grove is able to provide a continuum of quality, compassionate care for our neighbors in southwestern York County and all of Adams County during their times of need. VNA Home Health is for individuals who need to recover and regain their strength after an illness, surgery, accident, or hospitalization. Our team of nurses and physical, occupational and speech therapists, as well as social workers and home health aides help people get back to, or surpass, their previous level of functioning. VNA Hospice provides care and support for terminally ill individuals and their families or caregivers at the end of life. Our team of highly trained nurses, social workers, spiritual counselors, hospice aides, therapists, volunteers, physicians, and bereavement counselors provide services in both personal homes and extended care facilities. The VNA Hospice team provides sensitivity and compassion with expert knowledge and skill.

Behind every patient we care for is a team of people committed to comfort, dignity and making each day as meaningful as possible.

Meet the hospice team at VNA of Hanover & Spring Grove!

Our nurses, hospice medical director, nurse practitioner, hospice aides, social workers, spiritual counselors, volunteer and bereavement coordinator, and volunteers each bring something important to the care we provide. Together, they support the whole person, and the family alongside them.

That support includes:

🔹 Pain and symptom management, regular nursing visits and 24/7 on-call support
🔹 Personal care assistance to help patients feel comfortable and cared for
🔹 Emotional and spiritual support for patients and loved ones
🔹 Guidance to help families understand what to expect and feel more confident providing care
🔹 Companionship and practical help from our volunteers
🔹 Grief and bereavement support that continues after a loved one’s death

We’re a local agency, staffed by people who live and work right here in the communities we serve. When questions arise or needs change, our team is close by and ready to respond. Being your neighbor means more than knowing the area, it means being here when you need us.

Caring for a wound at home can come with a lot of questions.

Am I changing the dressing correctly? How do I protect the surrounding skin? How can I tell whether it’s healing?

Meet Becky Swift, RN, BSN, CWS, our Wound Care Program Coordinator and Certified Wound Specialist at the VNA of Hanover & Spring Grove.

Becky helps patients and families make sense of wound care so they can feel more confident managing it at home. That includes:

🔹 Understanding the individualized wound-care plan
🔹 Learning proper dressing techniques
🔹 Protecting the skin around a wound
🔹 Recognizing changes or warning signs to report to the care team

Alongside our Home Health team, Becky brings specialized knowledge and practical teaching to help patients and caregivers feel informed and supported throughout the healing process.

Everyday movements can become big challenges after an illness, injury or surgery. They can also become meaningful milestones in recovery. 💙

Meet Audrey Shisler, Angela Preston and Brady Mentzer, three of the physical therapists helping VNA patients build strength, confidence and independence at home.

Our home-based physical therapy focuses on what matters in daily life:

🔹 Walking more safely throughout the home
🔹 Getting up from a chair and moving between surfaces
🔹 Navigating stairs with greater confidence
🔹 Improving strength, balance and endurance
🔹 Learning movement strategies that support safety and help reduce fall risk

By working with patients in their own homes, our therapists can help them practice the very activities they need to do each day.
