If you don't follow Kruzn for a Kure Foundation, check it out! Jessica Davenport's incredible work on the behalf of her own children as well as all children affected by SIOD, an ultra rare disease, is truly inspiring. Through her work, the Kruzn for a Kure Foundation raises $30,000 a month for critical research that did not exist prior to her incredible drive and work. Her children are thriving past the expected outcomes and they have handled each challenge with determination and hope. She reminded us all, through their own experiences, that $5 a month can make all the difference when we come together for an important cause.

“I had the opportunity to train on creative fundraising strategies at Wallace State today through the Cary Center at Auburn —- and I had one question stick out…

Someone asked- “How do you stay so positive?”

I’m asked this a lot and I think sharing the heaviness of our story in that moment, that’s usually everyone’s thought- like how?

I kinda laughed but then really thought about it…

Do we have every single reason to be bitter? Absolutely!

But it’s the people who’ve walked the hardest journeys sometimes who are the most positive.

And sometimes it’s the opposite, people choose misery and bitterness as their answer to life.

That’s just it- it’s a choice.

I truly believe the people who have seen rock bottom—experienced an incredible amount of devastation and felt suffering in a way that made it hard to breath…

Those people have two paths—- finding positivity or finding misery..

When I was asked that question, a lot of thoughts ran through my head as ways I could answer…

There was a time we were at Stanford we watched families leave without their child…

There was a time I didn’t know if I would have more than 10 years with my kids…

There was a time we had no plan besides dialysis..

There was a time I begged God to let me be able to bring Kruz home from the hospital..

There was a time we had no information in research besides a name of the mutation..

And there was many times I desperately prayed to be where we are today….

So while I could dwell on every “hard” thing we’ve been through in our life and keep questioning why- that only hardens your heart…

Being able to see the good in each day, believe more good things are coming, being thankful for how far we’ve come and knowing God isn’t done, that shift in perspective is everything.

Even on the days I’m not that positive, and trust me there are times and even seasons of having to work on my heart 🙃 but it’s hard not to see the good in life when you are around Kruz and Paizlee, how kind they are, how much they care for others and how happy they are no matter how much they have been through- it’s hard to have a bad day seeing them make the most of their situation..”
