Holy Apostles Catholic Holy Apostles Parish is the recently merged parishes of Saint Joseph the Worker (Hanson) and Our Lady of the Lake (Halifax). Offices are in Halifax.

The two churches retain their respective names, but the new parish name is effective February 1, 2021. We dedicate ourselves to all who form our parish community, whether active or inactive, that together we may continue to grow in the discipleship of Christ Jesus.

Is there a to this tasty Eastern European food? The answer is obviously "no," but there's a bit of a catch. For Polish immigrant communities in the United States, pierogi with potato and cheese filling has long been a staple Lenten food. So the Bible doesn't command you to "abstain from meat with this delightful food," but it IS a part of Polish Catholic traditions. Yum!

OCTOBER 9th IS WORLD PANS PANDAS AWARENESS DAY.
PANS and PANDAS are autoimmune-driven conditions causing the sudden, dramatic onset of obsessive-compulsive behavior (OCD), tics, or severe eating restrictions in children.

What is PANS?
PANS stands for Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome. A clinical diagnosis marked by the sudden onset of OCD or severely restricted food intake (such as Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder), plus at least two other acute neuropsychiatric or somatic symptoms.

What is PANDAS?
PANDAS stands for Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal Infections. A specific subset of PANS. It requires an abrupt onset of OCD or tics (or both) with a clear temporal association to a Group A Streptococcus (GAS) infection, such as strep throat.
