🎄 A Weekend of Giving at The Farm at Raven Brook 🎄

We’re kicking off a special Weekend of Giving in partnership with The Farm at Raven Brook, and we’re inviting our community to stand with us.

As families head to the farm to pick out their Christmas trees and enjoy the season, we’re raising support for the veterans who call this community home. Many veterans face financial hardship, housing challenges, or difficult transitions—and your support helps us step in when it matters most.

Every donation goes directly toward assisting veterans and their families with essential needs and support services. No veteran in our area should struggle alone, and this fundraiser helps us continue that mission.

Today, we pause to give thanks for the veterans, service members, and families who make up the heart of our community. Their sacrifices — past and present — are the reason so many of us get to gather safely with the people we love.

We also recognize that the holidays aren’t easy for everyone. Some veterans are far from family, some are dealing with financial or personal challenges, and some are carrying heavy memories that don’t take a day off. Our mission is to make sure they never face those challenges alone.

As we continue building this organization, we are grateful for everyone who has supported us, partnered with us, and believed in the work we’re doing. Your support helps us take the next step toward serving those who have served.

📣 Calling Local Businesses Who Want to Step Up for Veterans

Veterans Next Step is building a network of reliable, honest businesses we can refer local veterans to when they run into real-life problems—things like furnace issues, roof leaks, car repairs, plumbing, electrical, and more.

We’re not asking anyone to work for free. If a business wants to offer a discount, that’s appreciated but never expected. What we’re really looking for are companies that show up, do the job right, and treat our veterans with the respect they deserve.

As we grow and secure funding, there may be times when we can help cover costs for veterans in crisis, but we’re not at that stage yet. For now, we want to build a list of trusted partners we can count on—and who veterans can count on.

🔔 It’s been a busy summer — but Veterans Next Step hasn’t slowed down. While life and schedules heat up, we’ve been hard at work behind the scenes building partnerships, growing our mental health outreach, and preparing to roll out new services for veterans and their families.

We've recently added another mental health professional to our growing list of licensed, certified therapists who want to help. Melissa Shea of Kaleidoscope Counseling in Halifax is the newest member of our support team. That brings us up to four mental health professionals looking to assist our Veterans in need.

🪖 June 6, 1944 — D-Day

“The eyes of the world are upon you.” – Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower

Eighty-one years ago today, over 150,000 Allied troops stormed the beaches of Normandy in one of the most daring and decisive military operations in history.

They faced overwhelming odds.
They knew the cost.
And they went anyway.

Today, we honor the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering resolve of the men who fought — and died — to liberate Europe from tyranny. Their legacy is not just one of military victory, but of selfless service, brotherhood, and belief in something greater than themselves.

At Veterans Next Step Foundation, we carry their memory forward by standing up for those who serve today — with advocacy, mental health support, and action.

Let us never forget what they did. Let us always be worthy of their sacrifice.
