As we head into Thanksgiving, Pack 109 Leadership wants to once again thank the cubs and supporting parents of Pack 109 for their hard work and time supporting our November "Citizenship Month" Food Drive for the Maryland Food Bank.

As of Nov. 25th Pack 109 Cubs have collected $1500 in monetary donations for MD Food Bank, as well as ~$400-500 of food items that were directly donated to local Food Pantries. The Cubs who volunteered for our storefront tables at Green Valley Marketplace had lots of fun helping lots of people. Showing our kids the fulfillment that service can bring to their lives is one of the greatest joys of Scouting.

With 5 days left in November we're just $355 short of the Pack's fundraising goal of $1500 in direct monetary donations to MD Food Bank. Please keep spreading the word to support achieving that milestone, helping to feed families throughout our community this Thanksgiving.

Each den is working hard tonight as preparations are underway for our annual Pack 109 Winter Carnival!

Are you planning to join us on Sunday, December 7th at the Dewey Lowman American Legion Post 109 in Arbutus? All are welcome and it is always a blast!

In keeping with the "Scouting for Food" mission, Pack 109 is organizing an independent local Food Drive to support our community during the government shutdown and uncertainty of SNAP benefits funding. This crisis disproportionately impacts Maryland families, and Pack 109 is answering the call to service as part of our focus on Citizenship during the November month.

If you are able, please make a direct monetary donation to the Maryland Food Bank to most impactfully help relieve this burden on needy families in our community. Pack 109 will also be accepting donations of non-perishable foods and toiletries to deliver to Food Pantries in the Halethorpe/Arbutus/Lansdowne community, including Our Lady of Victory, Southwest Emergency Services (SWES), Lansdowne Interfaith Pantry, and Women of Valor's Family First Program.

We urge families to check for unused funds in their tax-advantaged FSA/HSA account that need spent before the end of the year. Review the FSA/HSA eligible expenses list for OTC medicines / skincare / first-aid / menstrual care / family planning items that are routinely requested donations by local pantries and aid groups.

"Our Scout Oath calls on our young people to “help other people at all times,” and Scouting for Food demonstrates to the nation how our movement can make a difference in their communities."
