Our senior and disabled residents need a helping hand during the snow storm... We're looking for Snow Angel volunteers to help people remove snow if they're not able to do it themselves. We currently have a list of people waiting to be matched with volunteers. To help out, visit www.hagerstownmd.org/snowangel.

It wasn't until after about eight years of injecting he**in, and 14 years since he first tried OxyContin, that Farver finally got sober because he decided he wanted to and put in the necessary work, the Hagerstown resident said.

"“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." ... Matthew 5:14-16 (NIV)

Love What Matters

"My Mom asked me to run to the store today with her so she could get groceries for the weekend. I obliged to keep her company.

The gentleman she is standing with is a Vietnam Marine Veteran. He said hello to us, we thanked him for his service and we were about to move on. Peering into his basket and the upset look on his face it was obvious he needed some help. Mom and him exchanged some words and she directed him to get in line with us.

He told us he was a drill sergeant in the Marines and 'kept those boys in line.' When he finally realized mom was going to pay for everything he started to cry which made me start crying so I had to turn away. He was so grateful.

When we left he hugged us both, thanked us for our kindness and for God sending us his way. God is good.

There is love. There is hope. There is kindness.

God bless our Veterans. All our military. All Americans. God bless the world and keep the kindness and love shining through their hearts."

BLACK PROTEST LEADER VS. "REDNECK” COAL ROLLING TRUCK DRIVER
Reconciliation begins with conversation. When we are willing to sit down and listen to each other, barriers are removed and forgiveness is possible. We quickly see that we are more alike than we are different by understanding the story of the person across from us. Competition can be replaced with community when we see and love all of our neighbors as ourselves.

Be a hero ... say NO to he**in!!!

"Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you." ... Ephesians 4:32 (NIV) ...

Who do we need to be kind and compassionate to and forgive today?

07/16/2016

Is there anything we can be praying about with you this weekend? Be sure, if able, to get out to your house of worship this weekend, and join with others in time of worship, study, and fellowship.

Is there something we can pray about for you today?

07/09/2016

It's a beautiful day in Hagerstown, Maryland! What sort of random act of kindness can you do today for someone else? How about ... take a gallon sized plastic freezer bag, and fill it with any of the following items: toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, razors, washcloths, comb, etc), packages of cheese/crackers, cookies, etc, tuna packages or other non perishable food items. We are collecting these bags to distribute throughout the city of Hagerstown to areas where the homeless congregate and to homeless "tent city" campgrounds.

"and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday." ... Isaiah 58:10 (NIV)

07/08/2016

"For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other." ... Galatians 5:14-15 (NIV)

07/08/2016

Say a special prayer today for the city of Dallas, and for all law enforcement nationwide! Today, we saw a couple of Hagerstown City Police inside Panera Bread, and gave each of them a $5 gift card, and thanked them for putting their lives at risk to protect each of us daily! The management then gave them a 50% discount on their meals, so they basically got a free meal today. What's the best way to show law enforcement our appreciation? Show them respect, and follow their commands! Even if we don't agree ... there is a later time and place to file grievances ... but when they command you to stop, STOP ... if they say put your hands in the air, put your hands in the air ... if they tell you to do jumping jacks, do jumping jacks! When they tell you that you have the right to remain silent, just shut your mouth and listen! THANK YOU TO ALL THE POLICE OFFICERS OUT THERE NATIONWIDE!

07/05/2016

On July 23, will be partnering with Lifehouse Church Outreach, providing gallon sized bags of snacks and toiletry items to the homeless throughout Hagerstown. Please keep this ministry in your prayers!

is a movement in Hagerstown, MD, to randomly do something nice for someone else with no strings attached. Some examples would be: while going through a drive thru at a restaurant, pay for the person's meal behind you ... wash your neighbor's car expecting nothing in return ... offer to drive an elderly neighbor (or a neighbor without transportation) to the grocery store ... send a note of encouragement to someone in jail or prison ... send a note of encouragement to a member of our military ... while eating out, tell your waitress you want to pay for a meal for another table ... offer to buy a cup of coffee for a homeless person ... you get the idea!

Why? Because can you imagine if there were thousands of people in the Hagerstown area doing something nice for fellow mankind, what this city would become? Being nice is contagious!

This movement was inspired by , a movement started several years ago in Columbus, Ohio by Cypress Church. Click on that hashtag to read stories of what all has transpired in that city as a result of being intentionally kind to strangers!

If you have received a card, or if you have a story to share where either you have participated or been the recipient of a total random act of kindness, please share your story below!
