This past Sunday Empowering Our Future was proud to team up with Micah’s Backpack to pack bags full of food intended for students across WCPS. Micah’s Backpack traditionally serves many students across WCPS schools but this time we teamed up with the Homeless Education Coordinator to specifically serve that population which was in need of additional food. We packed 25 bags full of nonperishable food and sent them off to the WCPS Central Office to be distributed to those students. Special thank you to Carol Brashears and Trinity Lutheran Church for connecting us with WCPS and providing us with space and funding to pack!!

We cannot thank the community enough for coming out to last weekend’s six-school food drive and supporting the food banks of Washington County in a very big way. We were able to collect food at every site, as well as monetary donations that will provide thousands of pounds of food for the food banks. It was inspiring to see the giving spirit of those bringing donations from trunks, up to tables, and to our GoFundMe. We were also able to make donations to our partners: Tabitha’s Table, Avery’s Fight, and The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society(Team Shoemaker and Rebels for a Cure). This couldn’t have been made possible without the gracious volunteers and members from EOF, including Rachael Gross, Yousuf Qaum, Tanish Gupta, Alex Laughton, Maddie Semler, Aubrey Chamberlain, Aubrey Coonan, Evan Turner, Alex Duncan, Miles Kane, Shannon Woiccak, Betsy Norgard, Musa Waseem, Kelly Bokoum, Matthew Stine, Ian Watts, Jaidan O’Donoghue, Drew Custer, Mae Crews, Cameron Sierra, Payton Zimmerman, Frank Rodriguez, Juliana Leeks, Keely Knode, Tegan Chalker, Grace Thornsberry, Sofia Qaum, Manav Bhatt, Trista Leidy, Sarah Gann, Jamie Shoemaker, Hannah Smith, Elizabeth Anderson, Bella Fiery, Chris Tengey, Leia Patel, Nathaniel Socks, Michael Flaherty, Andrew Flaherty, and Connor Ceci.
