Texas County OHCE Oklahoma Home and Community Education(OHCE) is a statewide county-based organization in partnership with OSU and OSU Extension.

Jo Dean James, age 93, of Tyrone, Oklahoma, passed away on June 15, 2026, in rural Ho**er. Jo Dean was born on April 26, 1933, in Roswell, New Mexico, the daughter of Elvin (Sam) and Mary Jo Bradley. She married Bobby Dale James on July 22, 1951, in Roswell, New Mexico.

Jo Dean graduated from Roswell High School in 1951. She worked as an Executive Secretary in the corporate world, demonstrating her remarkable intelligence and diligence. She retired with a reputation for her strong work ethic and dedication, leaving behind a legacy of professionalism and integrity. Jo Dean and Bobby transferred with Mobile Oil to Liberal, KS and moved to Tyrone in 1993. In her spare time, she enjoyed genealogy, sewing, and most importantly, her family. She was a talented seamstress, creating beautiful pieces that reflected her attention to detail and creative spirit. Jo Dean's love for genealogy was a reflection of her deep-rooted love for her family and her desire to understand her lineage.

She was also a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), United Neighbors OHCE, and the First Christian Church of Ho**er.

She is survived by son, Bradley D. James and wife Arleen of Ho**er, OK; daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Bott and husband, Rick of Castle Rock, CO; grandchildren, Kirby James, Dr. Sharla Bohi and Matt Bott; great-grand-children, Bradley James, Kaden James, and Adalynn Bohi; great-great-grandchildren, Luke James and soon to be baby girl who is expected to make an appearance in November.

Jo Dean is also survived by sisters, Patsy Stockman of Garland, TX and Susan Hobson of Moses Lake, WA; brother, Dr. Robert M. Bradley and Janet Morris of Sun Valley, CA, and a host of extended family members as well as friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bobby Dale James in 2014, and her beloved grandson, 2nd Lt. Luke S. James who was killed in Iskandariyah, Iraq in 2004 and is interred at Arlington National Cemetery.

Services for Jo Dean will be held at Roberts Brothers Funeral Home located at 207 N. Swem St., Ho**er, OK 73945 on Friday, June 19, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Tyrone Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to the 2nd Lt. Luke James Memorial Fund and will be accepted by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, P.O. Box 745, Ho**er, OK 73945.

Upcoming opportunities!
I will be starting a new short program called "the lunchbox learning series". Bring you a sack lunch or something warm to eat, and settle in for a quick lesson! See the flyer for more information!

Sew much to Learn beginner sewing workshops-Still time to sign up! We will meet 3-4 times and make a couple of beginner projects. This is a great opportunity if you don't know how to sewor have very limited skills, but want to learn more! Call the office to sign up! Limited spots.

Lunch around the World! I am SO excited about this program. We will meet once a month and make recipes from different regions around the world!. This will be hands-on cooking by participants, while also learning a few details about the areas where our recipes are coming from that month!

Catch your dreams workshop- We will be learning some history on Dreamcatchers, and creating our own! OHCE members, this is one of the projects for the fair for you, so it would be a great opportunity to come, learn and create!

So sorry if you missed our May 7 OHCE Reunion Reception but we enjoyed great company, had fun looking through photos, remembered events we had forgotten after reviewing memorabilia and wrote thank you notes to military men and women for Operation Gratitude. Oh, yes, we enjoyed delicious cookies, fruit and vegetables.
