The Gurnee Legion would like to thank the family of Helena Reeder Kruell for their generous donation of $633.00 from their Annual Lemonade Stand.

Helena's father, the late Brian Reeder (Master Chief, U.S. Navy, retired) was a 29 year member of our post here. Each year they have the Lemonade stand to honor him, and each year they donate to the Legion.

Today we have been informed that Gurnee Legion Post Member Vincent Martorano has just passed. He had 18 continuous years with the American Legion. He was also a member of the Ronald Hill Memorial VFW Post 2245.

We offer our condolences to his wife Susan and his family.

A Heartfelt Thank You to the Kruell & Reeder Family 🍋

We want to send a huge, heartfelt thank you to the family of Helena Reeder Kruell for their incredible donation of $633.00 from their annual lemonade stand!

This wonderful tradition is held each year in memory of Helena's father, the late Brian Reeder (Master Chief, U.S. Navy, Ret.), who was a dedicated 29-year member of Gurnee American Legion Post 771.

Hello Gurnee Legion Post members!

In case you missed the announcements from our Post Adjutant, the Annual Gurnee Legion Family Picnic is THIS Sunday!

Date: Sunday, August 2, 2026
Time: 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Location: 749 Milwaukee Ave, Gurnee.

The post provides grilled meats and sodas. We will have kids' games, adult lawn games, music, fun, and camaraderie. Membership brings all else (Potluck).
Setup is at 9:00 am. We need volunteers! Call Jr. Vice Commander Mike Castillo if you can help. His number is (847) 471-2278.

The weather is predicted to be beautiful and a balmy 71F!
