The North Gulfport Civic Club was established in October of 1958 to foster educational and health programs, to combat the causes of juvenile delinquency, and to achieve a better standard of good government. Knox, Hannah Lee Knox, George Washington, Amos Crouch and Sam Moore. In September of 1978 the North Gulfport Civic Club’s charter was amended. The Civic Club pledged to restore and substantial

ly improve the employment and income standard of residents of the North Gulfport Community. Second, to assist local organizations and or government to develop or implement comprehensive economic development strategies. Third, to supplement and foster the development of local organizations in order to improve their ability to plan and coordinate local programs to improve economic conditions and address employment needs of residents in the area. Fourth to provide financial assistance for the construction or renovation of facilities which will enhance private sector investment and provide employment opportunities.
