🎂 It's our 45th Anniversary!

June 18th, 1981 marks the day the articles of incorporation were officially filed for our Chamber.

Forty-five years later, we're proud to represent more than 1,000 members and serve as a champion for the businesses, organizations, and communities that make Coastal Alabama such a special place to live, work, and play.

Over the years, we've grown alongside Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, expanded our programs and events (such as the Annual National Shrimp Festival, Coastal Tailgate Cook-Off Challenge, Coastal Alabama Leadership League, Coastal Alabama Kid Entrepreneurs, Lower Alabama Young Professionals, etc), welcomed new generations of business leaders, and celebrated countless ribbon cuttings, grand openings, milestones, and more!

🚨 V.I.B.E. @ 5:00 UPDATE: With high winds, rain, and possible flooding in the forecast; and in the interest of safety, the decision has been made to postpone tonight's VIBE @ 5:00 at Last Mango at The Wharf.

The event will now take place on Thursday, November 19th, when we can all enjoy the outdoor atmosphere as planned.

📰 NEWS RELEASE: World Food Championships Qualifier, Coastal Tailgate Cook-Off Challenge, Returning to Orange Beach for Fourth Year

Orange Beach, Ala. - Foodies and chefs of all skill levels are invited to the Coastal Alabama Business Chamber’s (CABC) 4th Annual Coastal Tailgate Cook-Off Challenge presented by Columbia Southern University. This year’s Tailgate Challenge, happening Saturday, Aug. 22, will return to The Wharf’s Marina Lawn, located between the Levin’s Bend condominium and the Orange Beach Event Center.

A fundraiser for the Chamber’s education programs, the Tailgate Challenge gives attendees the opportunity to sample a variety of tailgate themed dishes featuring bacon from some of the best professional and amateur cooking teams/individuals in the Southeast region. Competitors will be gunning for a coveted Golden Ticket to compete in the bacon category at the World Food Championships (WFC) happening later in the year in Indianapolis, Ind.

The Golden Ticket competition will be decided by a select group of judges certified in the WFC's proprietary scoring system, the E.A.T.™ Methodology. A People’s Choice Award will also be given out and voted on by event attendees.

Past Tailgate Challenge Golden Ticket winners have included:

*Maynard had won a WFC Golden Ticket prior to competing in the Tailgate Challenge and awarded the 2023 ticket to the next highest-placing finisher, Maegan Bratton of Gulf Shores, Ala.

There are several opportunities to get involved with the event:

𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗲:
The entry fee to take part in the Challenge is $100. Rules, competition details, and a sign-up form can be accessed by visiting https://tinyurl.com/cabctailgate26. The competition is open to amateurs & professionals who can compete either as an individual or a team.

𝗔𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱:
Tickets (available for $20) can be purchased in advance at https://tinyurl.com/cabctailgate26 or the day of at the event’s entrance. Attendees will be granted entry to the Marina Lawn at The Wharf, 10 sampling tickets to enjoy competitors’ preparations, and one vote towards the People’s Choice Award. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks will also be available for purchase. Attendees are asked to come out in their best college football themed attire as a ‘best dressed fan’ award will be given out by organizers.

📋 Message from CABC President CEO Greg Alexander:

Today, Tuesday, June 16th, is runoff election day in Baldwin County and I encourage everyone in our community to make a plan to vote.

Historically, voter turnout in runoff elections is lower than general elections, which makes every vote even more important. The leaders we elect help shape policies that affect our businesses, schools, infrastructure, public safety, and quality of life.

If you are an employer, please encourage your employees to vote and allow them time to get to the polls if needed.

I also ask you to help spread the word. Reach out to your friends, family, neighbors, and encourage them to vote.

Our Island Spirit Award committee, presented by Bluewater Exteriors, recently celebrated April 2026 winner David Dale of the Orange Beach Recreation Center.

An excerpt from the nomination letter we received noted:

"He starts his work every morning at 4AM. He always has a smile (and a joke) every morning when you walk into the gym. He also serves at his church and other areas in the City and loves being involved in the community. He has become a favorite at the gym where people make stickers and shirts of him and dress up like him for Halloween. He is what the Island Spirit Award is made for by what he does on the job and in his community!"

As an Island Spirit winner, David was awarded a cash prize courtesy of award sponsor Bluewater Exteriors, a custom lapel pin, a keepsake plaque, and a free lunch courtesy of De Soto's Seafood Kitchen.

The cities of Gulf Shores & Orange Beach remind residents that hurricane season is in full swing from June 1st through November 30th.

Both cities offer online hurricane preparedness resources, including information on hurricane re-entry decals, storm preparation checklists, emergency communication channels, evacuation information, and other tools.

Residents are encouraged to review these resources and make a plan before a storm threatens the area.
