The Baldwin County Commission has adopted a 180 day temporary moratorium on certain development applications within areas under the County’s zoning jurisdiction.

The moratorium took effect immediately upon adoption on October 6, 2026.

During this period, the County will not accept, process, review, hear, or approve:
• Requests to rezone parcels currently under Baldwin County zoning jurisdiction.
• Applications or permits for new data centers within the County’s zoned areas.
• Applications or permits for new renewable energy projects within the County’s zoned areas.

The moratorium does not apply to:
• Single-family residential building permits on existing, individually-owned lots that do not require a change in zoning or special exception approval.
• Previously approved renewable energy projects or data centers (if any).

This temporary measure allows the Commission time to thoroughly review existing zoning classifications, evaluate whether additional standards are needed, and ensure future development decisions protect the health, safety, welfare, property rights, and quality of life of Baldwin County residents.

The moratorium will remain in effect for 180 days unless amended or addressed by the Baldwin County Commission.

Governor Kay Ivey’s Mandatory Evacuation Order (Hurricane Isaias)

Effective October 8, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. CDT:
All non-residents, tourists, and visitors must immediately evacuate the following areas:

All locations in Baldwin County south of the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway, including areas in:

City of Gulf Shores
City of Orange Beach
Fort Morgan

The order remains in effect until the state of emergency expires or is modified in writing.

Any conflicting state laws are suspended for the duration of this emergency; this proclamation takes precedence.

FYI... Fort Morgan property owners outside of the municipality will be charged a handling fee by the City

🚘 ATTN: Residents Who STILL Need a Hurricane Re‑Entry Decal

If you do not yet have your Hurricane Re‑Entry Decal, please get yours now. These decals are required for re-entry to the island after an evacuation and must be placed on the inside driver‑side windshield.

Decals will NOT be issued once a Hurricane Warning is in effect.
