People often ask why a small sanctuary can’t "just take one more."

Here is the honest math behind keeping our pack of 7 safe, fed, and pain-free at Project Nuka:

​🐾 2 seniors on daily heart murmur medication: ~$200/mo
🐾 1 rescue going through slow-kill heartworm treatment: ~$50/mo
🐾 Specialty food, monthly preventatives & sanitation for 7 dogs: ~$600/mo
​That’s $850 to $1,000 every single month—around $10,000+ a year—before a single emergency vet visits.

​When a newly dumped or abandoned dog needs a spot, day-one vet care alone (blood panels, vaccines, testing, spay/neuter, or urgent dental work) averages $500+ right out of the gate, plus another $150/month for the rest of their life.

​We desperately want to say "yes" to the next dog left behind, but we will never compromise the care of the 7 lives already counting on us.

Ziggy’s start in life wasn't fair. Abandoned at Lake Mexia with a severe leg injury, this sweet boy was left to fend for himself. But thanks to his incredible fighting spirit and the amazing team at Healing Heart Rehab who helped us save his leg from amputation, this 1.5-year-old is finally thriving.

​Now, his biggest worry is keeping up with his brothers while exploring the sanctuary. Ziggy finally has a family that will never leave him behind. 🐾💛

The auction haul for our November 8th TikTok Live fundraiser is getting seriously incredible! 🤯

We put out the call, and you all are delivering. So far, the lineup for the Project Nuka benefit includes gorgeous metal-smithed and wire-wrapped jewelry, a custom pet portrait, stunning opal art, custom enamel pins, and even an autographed sapphic romance novel by Kimberly Haven! And that’s just the beginning.

Earthy Vybz is going live on TikTok on November 8th at 2:00 PM, and every single bid goes straight toward building our new open-kennel space and securing mobility equipment for our senior and special-needs pups. 🐾
