Knitters and Crocheters, It's Your Turn!

We asked our quilters about their favorite sewing machines, and now we want to hear from our talented knitters and crocheters!

What's your all-time favorite blanket pattern?

Do you have a go-to pattern that you find yourself making over and over? Maybe it's a quick and easy baby blanket, a cozy textured design, or a pattern that's perfect for using up leftover yarn.

We'd love for you to share your favorites with us!

Drop a photo of your finished blanket and a link to the pattern in the comments! If it's your own creation, we'd love to hear how you made it.

Your favorite pattern might inspire another volunteer or help someone discover a new way to create comfort for children in need.

Let's share some inspiration and keep those needles and hooks busy!

Quilters, let's talk sewing machines!

We all have our favorites, and we'd love to hear about yours!

What brand and model sewing machine do you use for quilting? And more importantly, what do you love about it?

Is it the stitch quality, the throat space, the ease of use, or just the fact that it's been your trusty sewing companion for years?

Whether you sew on a basic machine or a fancy computerized model, we want to hear your recommendations!

Drop your machine's brand and model in the comments and tell us why you love it!

Who knows? You might help another quilter find their next favorite machine!

Sunday Blanket Basics: Crochet Moss Stitch

Looking for a simple crochet stitch that creates a soft, cozy children’s blanket? This week, we’re sharing a beginner-friendly moss stitch tutorial from Hooked by Robin.

Also called the linen stitch, this pattern uses basic chain and single-crochet stitches with one easy row repeated throughout the project. It works beautifully with solid, striped or variegated yarn.

For a blanket donated to our chapter, begin with an even-numbered foundation chain that measures at least 48 inches across. Continue repeating the pattern until the blanket reaches your desired length. Please use soft, machine-washable yarn in child-friendly colors.

The tutorial includes both written instructions and a step-by-step video:

Have you used the moss stitch before?

Learn how to crochet the Moss Stitch, also known as the Linen Stitch. This stitch is a simple ONE ROW REPEAT which creates a beautiful flat dense texture that looks superb in one plain solid colour, stripes or variegated yarn! A classic stitch, supremely versatile - a must-have for your stitch libra

Did you know?

Project Linus blankets can provide comfort to a child during some of their most difficult moments. Our blankets are shared with local fire and rescue departments, law enforcement, hospitals, and other organizations that work directly with children in need.

Sometimes a blanket is given to a child during an emergency, after a frightening experience, or while receiving medical care. In that moment, something handmade especially for a child can provide a little security, warmth, and comfort when they need it most.

That’s why every blanket our Blanketeers make matters. You may never meet the child who receives your blanket, but your kindness can be felt when it matters most.

Many Hands. Warm Hearts. Better Tomorrows. 💙
