Hello Green Harbor Families,
On Friday, I had the pleasure of speaking with two wonderful members of our community, Susan and Eddie Willkinson. During our conversation, they shared an interesting piece of Green Harbor history.
They told me that Marjorie Willkinson designed the first Green Harbor T-shirt around 1990. While this date does not mark the beginning of the association itself, it does represent the creation of the very first Green Harbor T-shirt.
Each year during our Labor Day festivities, members of the Willkinson family proudly wear this original shirt. If you happen to see someone wearing one, you'll know they are likely a family member or friend of Marjorie and are helping to keep this special tradition alive.
As we continue piecing together the history of the GHBA, stories like this help preserve the memories and traditions that make our community so special. Thank you to the Willkinson family for sharing this wonderful part of our history.
It's the memories we share and the traditions we pass along to our kids and families that make this event so special. Do you have a Green Harbor story, photo, or memory to share? We'd love to hear it!
Thank you Willkinson Family and I can't wait to see you in your T-Shirts this Labor Day Weekend! I am not sure if Susan is on Facebook, but thank you so much, Susan and Eddie, for sharing this wonderful piece of Green Harbor history. It is a great opportunity to share Majorie Willkinson's original T Shirt design with our community and help preserve this special tradition.
Warm regards,
Deb Burns
