WELCOME TO MAD DOG MOBILE PET PARTNERS!

We’ve noticed some new faces around here lately, so we thought this would be a great time to say WELCOME and tell you a little more about who we are and what we do!

Mad Dog Mobile Pet Partners is a local nonprofit with a pretty simple mission:
Helping pets. Supporting families. Keeping them together.

Sometimes life throws families a curveball. A job changes, an unexpected expense comes up, the grocery budget gets tight, or a pet suddenly needs a little extra help. That’s where we hope to step in.

Depending on available resources and individual circumstances, Mad Dog may be able to assist with things like pet food and supplies, spay/neuter services, vaccinations, microchips, and other needs that help families continue caring for the pets they already love.

We do have a couple of important guidelines we want our community to know:

Our assistance is for pets already established in the household.
Our mission is to help people care for the pets already depending on them. Because our resources are limited, we aren't able to provide assistance for newly acquired or planned pets.

Mad Dog does not provide cash assistance.
When we're able to help with an approved need, we provide the food, supplies, service, or payment directly to the appropriate provider.

The amount of support we received was truly overwhelming, and we're so grateful to be part of a community that believes in helping pets and the people who love them. Because of your generosity, we'll be able to continue providing pet food, supplies, and assistance to families in need right here in our community.

Hi Friends! We're so excited to be a part of the Big Sky Cluster again this year! Please come by and say hello and check out the dog show while you're at it! It's a great way to get the whole family out to do something new! Word on the street is there will be a "scavenger hunt" activity for the kids to earn a patch! We'll be set up Thursday the 25th thru Sunday the 28th starting at 9am! Admission is free! Other awesome vendors will be there! Come check us out!

The “vacuum effect” is a well-documented concept in population ecology; and it explains why removing animals doesn’t solve the problem.
‎
In animal welfare, we often see people trapping dozens of free-roaming cats to bring them into shelters or rehome them elsewhere. And while it may reduce numbers temporarily, it doesn’t address the underlying population dynamics.

In ecology, populations are regulated by resource availability - things like food, shelter, and territory.
When animals are removed from an area, those resources remain. This creates an ecological “vacuum,” and other animals will move in to utilize them. This has been observed across multiple species, not just cats.
‎
What happens when cats are removed:
🐾 Remaining or incoming cats have increased access to resources
🐾 Reproductive rates can increase
🐾 New, unaltered cats immigrate into the area
🐾 The population returns to its previous level (or higher)

This process is often referred to as compensatory population growth. TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) works with these natural systems instead of against them!
‎
By stabilizing the existing population:
✅ Cats are spayed/neutered, eliminating reproduction
✅ They continue occupying their territory, limiting immigration
✅ Behaviors linked to mating decrease
✅ Over time, the population gradually declines

When TNR is avoided, the same cats (or new ones) continue to cycle through intake, often leading to repeated strain on shelters and, in many cases, unnecessary euthanasia without ever addressing the source of the issue.

If you’re experiencing a large number of free-roaming cats, look into TNR resources in your area. Here at YVAS, we offer assistance as our medical capacity and scheduling allows. 🐾
