🐉💜 RYUU UPDATE — THIS BOY HAS BRAINS, DRIVE & A WHOLE LOT OF PERSONALITY! 💜🐩

Ryuu is a 2-year-old Standard Poodle who recently came into our rescue after being surrendered by his owner, and we are quickly learning just how incredibly intelligent this boy is.

Ryuu is HIGH DRIVE and will require an experienced adopter who understands intelligent, active dogs and is excited to continue challenging him mentally and physically. We truly believe he could excel in dog sports, advanced obedience, or another activity that gives that brilliant poodle brain a job to do.

🎾 And BALL IS LIFE.

Ryuu absolutely LOVES chasing a ball, and this boy can CATCH! Throw it his way and he almost never misses. 😂

He is housebroken and crate trained, although he would like it formally documented that he occasionally has some opinions about being in his crate. 🤣

He can also currently clear a baby gate, so we are actively working on boundaries, structure, impulse control, and learning that just because you can jump something doesn't necessarily mean you should.

⚠️ An important requirement for Ryuu's future home: Ryuu CANNOT live with cats, small rodents, birds, or other small animals.

He has a strong prey/chase drive and will chase and could seriously injure them. This is not something we are willing to take a chance with, so his future home must be free of these animals.

After all, Standard Poodles weren't originally bred just to look fabulous with fancy haircuts! 😉 Poodles were developed as working water retrievers and hunting dogs, and Ryuu definitely didn't miss the memo when the prey drive was handed out. 🐩🎾

For the next two weeks, Ryuu will be joining Sit Means Sit Chattanooga while the Poodle Mom travels for her paying job — you know, the one that helps support this little rescue of ours. 😂🐩✈️ We are excited for Ryuu to have an opportunity to continue learning and for us to learn even more about what he needs to thrive in his eventual forever home.

But all jokes aside, THANK YOU. ❤️

We are incredibly grateful for the numerous foster families who stepped forward when we needed help and for the multitude of applications we received.

We also want everyone who submitted an application to hear this:

If you applied and we didn't contact you, that does NOT necessarily mean you were declined.

Our job is to look at what each individual dog needs in that particular moment and find the home that best matches those needs. Sometimes an absolutely wonderful applicant simply isn't the right match for that dog, at that time.

That doesn't mean you won't be the perfect person for another poodle who comes through our doors. 💜

Every application, share, comment, tag, and kind word helps us continue doing this work.

Please keep following Ryuu's journey, keep sharing our dogs, and continue spreading the word about Mavroudis Poodle Rescue.

Ryuu's story is still being written… and we have a feeling this incredibly smart, athletic boy is going to do some pretty amazing things. 🐉🐩💜.

We can’t wait to learn more about him so we can choose his forever home!

💔🌈 OUR HEARTS ARE BROKEN — REST EASY, JIM BOB JACK PUPPY 🌈💔

Who remembers Jim and Nick?

Over a year and a half ago, we made a desperate plea for two senior miniature poodles who had been dumped in Gwinnett County.

Two little old men who should have been spending their golden years surrounded by comfort and love suddenly found themselves needing rescue.

We named them Jim and Nick. 🐾

Nick was adopted just a few short months ago and is now lovingly known as Little Ol’ Man. ❤️

And Jim?

Well… Jim became Jim Bob Jack Puppy.
When Jim came into our rescue, he was estimated to be around 14 years old. He desperately needed love, affection, medical care, a neuter, good food, and time to regain his strength.

But more than anything, he needed someone willing to look past his age and see that there was still an entire little life waiting to be lived.

Missing most of his teeth certainly didn't stop him—that little man could EAT! 😂
As he gained strength, his personality began to shine. He kept up with the others, loved playing with his toys, looked forward to his daily walks, and would happily climb into any available lap.

And if you weren't giving him quite enough attention?

Jim would sit up like the most adorable little prairie dog and wave at you until you noticed him. 🥹❤️

Then Jim met the person who would change the rest of his life.

A wonderful senior in our community had recently lost her beloved spouse and was mourning the loneliness and time spent alone that followed such an incredible loss.
She offered to foster Jim.

And somewhere along the way, two hearts that needed each other found one another.
She fell completely in love with him.

And we made her a promise:

We would never take Jim away from her.
She could continue being his hospice foster Momma for however much time he had left.

What we thought might simply be a comfortable place for a very old dog to spend his remaining days turned into almost TWO beautiful YEARS of Jim Bob Jack Puppy living his very best life. ❤️

His Momma took him routinely to the groomer.
She got him fat and happy.
He had his toys.
He had his walks.
He had warm beds and laps to sleep in.
He had companionship.
He had a home.

And most importantly…

He had his Momma.

Jim wasn't an unwanted senior dog anymore.

He wasn't a discarded little old poodle anymore.

He was somebody's baby. ❤️

And then last night, everything changed incredibly fast.

Jim suddenly developed severe neurological symptoms and became unable to support himself at all.

His foster mom knew her boy. She immediately recognized that something was terribly wrong and reacted quickly, getting Jim to VEG for emergency care.

After he arrived, the emergency doctor called the Poodle Mom with urgency.
After evaluating our sweet old man, the heartbreaking recommendation was that the next and kindest thing we could do for Jim Bob was to let him go. 💔

And so we did.

There are never enough years.

There is never enough time.

And there is certainly never a moment when your heart feels ready to say goodbye.

But we are so incredibly thankful his foster mom reacted as quickly as she did. She knew something wasn't right and didn't hesitate. Because she acted immediately, Jim received emergency care when he needed it most, and we were able to make the most loving decision we could for him.

Sometimes the final promise we make to them is also the hardest:

We will not allow you to suffer simply because we aren't ready to lose you. 💔

Please say a prayer for Jim's foster Momma as she mourns the loss of this tiny little dog who became such a huge part of her heart, her home, and her everyday life.

Hospice fostering is one of the greatest acts of love someone can give.

You willingly open your home and your heart knowing there may never be enough time.
And then somehow, that little animal fills spaces in your life you didn't even know were empty.

Jim Bob Jack Puppy will be cremated, and when he comes home, he will return to exactly where he belongs—with his foster Momma. ❤️

His ashes will remain with her forever, just as the love and companionship they shared will forever remain in her heart.

Almost two years ago, we promised her that we would never take Jim away from her.
And we intend to keep that promise. Even now.

Jim, you got your freedom ride out of Gwinnett County. 🐾

You got the soft beds.
You got the toys.
You got the walks.
You got the full belly.
You got the groomings.
You got every available lap you could find.
You got almost two more beautiful years.

But most importantly…

❤️ YOU GOT YOUR MOMMA. ❤️
And because she opened her heart to an approximately 14-year-old hospice dog that someone else had discarded, you left this world knowing exactly what it felt like to be wanted, treasured, protected and completely loved.

Run free, sweet Jim Bob Jack Puppy. 🌈🐾
No more old bones.
No more medical worries.
No more struggling to stand.

Your freedom ride gave you almost two more years of the life you always deserved.
You were loved until your very last breath.
And soon, you'll make one final ride home to your Momma—where you will stay forever. ❤️

Until we meet again, sweet Jim Bob Jack Puppy.

You were never "just a foster."
You were family. 🐾🌈❤️

🐾💜 “ Misty” new name ALLIE and pUPDATE — or “Alpine” when she’s feeling formal! 💜🐾 From her foster mom Sit Means Sit Chattanooga Laura Walters

Sweet Allie is slowly beginning to show us who she is, one tiny step at a time.
Right now, she is still very skittish. You can tell she wants to come close and be part of everything, but she’s still figuring out whether humans can truly be trusted.
And that’s okay. We’re letting her set the pace. ❤️

She’s doing well with the other dogs and seems to really enjoy spending time outside in the yard. She’s started playing with toys and enjoying chews, loves her food, uses the dog door, and appears to be mostly potty trained.

But some of our favorite progress has been much quieter.

Allie is beginning to allow gentle pets. She’s getting a little closer. Watching a little longer. Choosing to stay nearby instead of retreating.

We’re also teaching her something that may be completely new to her:

A human can simply share your space without expecting anything from you.

No reaching for her.
No forcing affection.
No getting in her business.
Just existing together and allowing her to decide when she’s ready.

From what we are seeing, Allie seems to have very little experience with kind, patient human interaction. So for now, we celebrate every tiny victory—the toy she decides to play with, the moment she chooses to stay close, and every time she allows a gentle touch.

Her shell is cracking open bit by bit. 🥹💜
There’s a sweet girl in there who desperately wants to trust. We’re going to give her all the time, patience, and kindness she needs to discover that humans can be safe, too.

Keep going, Allie. We already see you. 🐩💕
