Lower Eastern Cherokee Nation SC

Lower Eastern Cherokee Nation SC State recognized Cherokee tribe. As far as the eye can see, this was our home. Among these hills our blood runs deep with our culture and heritage.

The Piedmont American Indian Association Lower Eastern Cherokee Nation SC is made up of Cherokee families who have called these hills, valleys, lakes, streams, and rivers home for many years. The Bryants, Arrowoods, Hayes, Hammitts, Crowe, and Adams are a few of the families that have had family members living in this area since the first white contact with the Cherokees in the 1540's. It's not so

much in what you say; it's what you feel in your heart...

From War Chief McDowell,
Chief Dexter Sharp and the tribal council are spearheading the restoration of the living village on behalf of the Lower Eastern Cherokee Nation. The materials required to establish seven teaching stations are ready, and plans include a covered area for a canoe. Once the stations are in place, the nation will rely on the input and contributions of its tribal members to further enhance the living village. Thank you.
