We gathered at the farm for an extraordinary milestone: our mortgage retirement! Surrounded by the horses, pastures, and people who make this mission possible, we marked this historic chapter with a ceremonial "burning of the mortgage" bonfire.

Watching those papers turn to ash represents far more than numbers off a ledger. Through sheer hard work, our generous donors, dedicated staff, board members, and tireless volunteers, we officially paid off our mortgage.

This achievement means that the life-changing services provided by Talisman are more secure than ever before. Every dollar that once went to the bank, will now stay right where it belongs, supporting our equine-assisted programs, caring for our herd, and ensuring our participants have a welcoming haven to heal, grow, and ride for generations to come.

To every single person who stepped up, donated, cleaned stalls, served on our board, or believed in this vision from day one: this victory belongs to you.

Uniform inspection passed with flying colors. 🇺🇸

When you form a bond with your four-legged partner, you start looking out for each other in every detail. One of our incredible Veteran participants Ted took camaraderie to the next level by handcrafting a matching boonie hat for his equine partner, Yuma.

At the farm the connection between a Veteran and their horse is built on mutual respect, quiet trust, and unmistakable teamwork. Seeing that dedication reflected in a custom piece of gear, fitted with care right around Yuma’s ears, captures the heart of what happens at the barn every day.

Equine-assisted programs provide a space for service members to reconnect, find steady ground, and build genuine partnerships. And on sunny arena days, having a battle buddy who shares your cover makes the ride even better.

This carnival-themed event brings together dozens of local organizations dedicated to supporting families and individuals with special needs across our community.

Whether it’s finding the confidence to sit tall, mastering reins for the very first time, or building the focus and strength to communicate with a 1,000-pound partner, our participants show up ready to do the work.

That’s a wrap on the Talisman Rockfish Rodeo!

What an incredible day out on the Chesapeake Bay. From the early morning lines in the water to an afternoon packed with hot steamed crabs, great food, cold drinks, and live music, the energy from start to finish was unmatched.

Tomorrow (9/14) is the Fourth Annual Rockfish Rodeo Fishing Tournament and Crab Feast benefiting Talisman Therapeutic Riding!

Upon arrival at the Crab Deck, please check the Boat Assignment Board for your assigned fishing vessel. Volunteers will be present to greet you and ensure you are guided to the right boat group.

All silent auction bidding will take place on your phone! Do not forget to charge your phone and sign-up now to be part of the auction bidding action. https://talismantherapeuticriding.org/

EVEN IF YOU CANNOT MAKE IT TO THE EVENT, YOU CAN STILL SUPPORT TALISMAN BY BIDDING ON SILENT AUCTIONS ITEMS. SIMPLY ACCESS THE ABOVE LINK, SIGN-IN, AND START BIDDING!

Next time you visit the farm at Talisman Therapeutic Riding, take a close look at our wildflower corridor. Our flowers are putting on a show, and they are doing some serious heavy lifting for the local ecosystem.

Healing happens from the ground up at Talisman, not just in the arena with our incredible herd and participants, but all along the trails and corridors that keep Maryland’s native wildlife thriving.
