Hello there, I’m Fares and I’ll be your French counsellor for the summer ⛱️. I come from the French–Swiss border region, a small area known for its cheese and skiing 🏔️

I’m currently studying International Business at master’s level. I’m a simple and approachable person. I enjoy sports like basketball 🏀, and I also like creative activities such as reading and writing 📖

I have had many wonderful experiences both as a camper and as a camp counsellor. There is always fun to be had when you are surrounded by great people 💪🏽 Can't wait to join everybody!

Introducing more international camp counselors joining us this Summer: Meet Jenny!

“If there’s a camp happening, I’m probably there! My name is Yi-Ching Yu, but you can just call me Jenny. I’m from Taiwan, a small island famous for its boba milk tea! My journey began years ago as a kid with a backpack and a world of curiosity. Having had so many wonderful camping experiences growing up, I was inspired to become a counselor myself.

I’ve since gone from attending camps to leading them; during my university years, I led numerous programs and realized that my favorite place to be is right in the middle of the action with the campers. I’m so excited to join the Sylvaneers team this summer at Camp Santa Maria, eager to share my experience and enthusiasm. I can’t wait to meet all the families and start a summer filled with laughter, discovery, and unforgettable memories!”

Meet Shady from Egypt, one of our camp counselors this Summer!

“I was previously a camper with Wellspring through a U.S. Embassy scholarship program in Cairo, and later returned as a camp counselor with the same organization. I have experience working with children with special needs, especially blind campers, and I enjoy activities like zip lining, swimming, biking, and campfires. I’m excited to join the Sylvaneers team this summer at Camp Santa Maria!”
