What an incredible week at the FCCLA National Leadership Conference in our nation’s capital! Connor and I joined more than 10,000 FCCLA members, advisers, and community partners from across the country for a week of leadership, service, advocacy, and unforgettable experiences.

Connor had the honor and responsibility of serving as a voting delegate, helping elect the next National Executive Council and voting on proposed organizational amendment changes that will help shape the future of FCCLA.

While in Washington, D.C., we also had the opportunity to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary and experience our nation’s history firsthand. From standing before the Lincoln Memorial and touring the Capitol Building to visiting the National Archives and seeing the founding documents of our country, each stop was a powerful reminder of the freedoms and opportunities we enjoy as Americans.

We toured the Library of Congress, the Smithsonian museums, and the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. One of the highlights of the week was attending the spectacular projection mapping light show at the Washington Monument, which beautifully told the story of our nation’s birth and the people who helped shape it.

We also joined FCCLA members from across the country on Capitol Hill to advocate for continued support of Family and Consumer Sciences education in our states and communities. Watching thousands of students raise their voices for an organization and career field they love was incredibly inspiring.

Leadership isn’t just learned in a classroom, it’s experienced through service, advocacy, and stepping outside your comfort zone. This trip was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and we am so proud of Connor for the leader he is becoming and the way he represented Texas FCCLA and our community.

Washington, D.C. reminded us that the future of our country is sitting in classrooms and leadership conferences today, and FCCLA is helping prepare those students to lead tomorrow.

We are incredibly proud of our state officers, Connor Vanek and Gabriela Garcia, for representing our chapter at the Texas FCCLA Officer Leadership Camp held at Camp Allen in Navasota last week!

Throughout the week, Connor and Gabriela spent countless hours collaborating with fellow state officers from across Texas to plan engaging and meaningful experiences for members at the upcoming Region and State Leadership Conferences.

As they serve in their roles as Texas FCCLA State Officers this year, they are helping shape the future of FCCLA across our state while building lifelong friendships, strengthening leadership skills, and learning the importance of service, teamwork, and community.

We can’t wait to see the incredible impact they will make for FCCLA members throughout Texas this year. Your hard work, dedication, and passion for servant leadership make us proud every day!

Gabriela will lead communication efforts for Texas FCCLA, promoting member engagement, and overseeing FCSA testing.

Connor will oversee the development and implementation of state scripts, slides, stage decor, sessions and more

As part of his role, Connor will also serve on the Texas FCCLA Board of Directors, where both he and Mrs. Dismukes will contribute to shaping the future of FCCLA at the state level.

Our chapter also had an outstanding showing beyond officer elections:

🍎 National FCCLA Week | Wednesday: FCS Educator Day 🍎

Today we proudly celebrate our incredible advisor, Angela Dismukes, whose leadership and dedication continue to shape the future of Granger FCCLA! ❤️

Mrs. Dismukes has served as an FCCLA Chapter Advisor for nine years, beginning her journey at Jarrell High School where she led 16 teams to the National Leadership Conference in just five years. She later advised in Taylor for two years before bringing her passion and expertise to Granger in the summer of 2024.

In her time at Granger, she has already guided two teams to Nationals, earning 8th and 12th place finishes, an incredible accomplishment! She also currently mentors one State Officer and one Region Officer, both of whom will serve as State Officers in the upcoming year.

Her commitment to Family & Consumer Sciences education goes far beyond competition; she builds leaders, mentors with heart, and inspires excellence every single day.

Thank you, Mrs. Dismukes, for empowering students to lead and serve. We are grateful for you today and every day! 💐

💜 National FCCLA Week | Tuesday Theme: Service 🌹

Service is at the heart of everything we do and Granger FCCLA has been busy all year giving back to our school and community! ❤️

From spreading holiday joy through our Purple Santa Program, to bringing Christmas spirit to our town with City Gazebo decorating, to supporting families through the State Fair of Texas Canned Food Drive, our members have shown up with compassion, dedication, and purpose. Add in countless hours of community volunteering, and it’s clear: service isn’t just an activity it’s part of our mission.

We are proud to serve, proud to lead, and proud to make a difference 💪✨
