It's Tournament Time! πŸ†

This Saturday, most of our MSA teams take the field for the start of end-of-season tournament play. This is what teams and players have been building toward all season, a chance to be the champions, show what we've learned, and represent our community.

Remember, only one team can win the division, but every player who shows up ready to compete, gives their best effort, and plays with their teammates comes away a winner. Growth, community, and heart are what stick with our players long after the final whistle.

Schedules vary by division, so coaches need to communicate with families about the times, especially as each win or loss impacts the next game time.

Remember when we posted about the Green Badge initiative that US Soccer introduced this year? If not, the post is shared below in our comment section, but for now, the key is for coaches and fans to remember that our refs are still people and many of them are under 18, which is signified by the green badge they are wearing.

Before you yell or criticize a referee, remember that they are learning how to take initiative, control a game, make the right call and process hundreds of other decisions throughout the game. We have had many of our referees endure such intensity during the end of season tournament that after finishing their assignments for the day, they decided to never ref another soccer game.

Dear MSA community, let's commit to respecting the referee, especially those wearing a green badge.

At this age, the best way to teach soccer is to make them forget they're learning it. That's the whole idea behind Soccer with Smiles. Games, movement, and just enough structure to keep things rolling, designed for kids born in 2020 and 2021 who are ready to get out there and try something new.

Five Tuesday evenings starting June 30. Choose 5:15-5:45pm or 5:45-6:30pm.
$84 total, 20 spots per session.

We're on to the tournament!

A quick note β€” this applies only to the U8 Academy division and U10 and older.
The tournament is a chance for teams to compete for the division trophy. Schedules vary depending on how many teams are in each division. Some teams will have two games on June 6 and one on June 13, others will have one on June 6 and two on June 13, and some will have one game each weekend. Coaches already have the brackets, so reach out to them if you want to see your team's potential schedule.

Only one team can win the division β€” that's the nature of competition. But a championship doesn't define the season. Growth, community, and showing up ready to compete are what stick with players long after the final whistle.

The top two teams earn a trophy, but every player goes home with a medal and patch for another great MSA season.

Now let's go get it. πŸ†

Great job, coaches!

We want to give a shoutout to our U5, U6, and U7 coaches after another Saturday on the field. What you do goes beyond just coaching β€” you're teaching the game, keeping parents in the loop, managing subs, making calls, and somehow keeping it all together on the sideline. Head coaches and assistants working in sync makes a real difference, and the players and families feel it.

Thank you for the time and energy you've put into this season. Keep redirecting, encouraging, and celebrating with your teams β€” that's what makes it stick.

And hey, if fate is on your side, maybe a parent shows up with enough snacks to share. 🀣
