The Club welcomed Rotary District 5810 - North Texas 2026-2027 District Governor Mike Callahan this week. DG Mike challenged us to "do better than your best" as Rotarians. He also emphasized issues important to our district including increasing membership, "building the bench" for club and district leadership, and focusing on youth events. In honor of his visit, the Club made an honorary donation to The Senior Source, whose mission has been to enhance the quality of life for older adults in greater Dallas.

Club member Jeff Rieger gave us a Membership Minute about joining Rotary and his company, Auto Care Central.

A great day for the Grand Prairie Metro Rotary Club as we welcomed Bianca Heath for a special program! Our club hosted her in 1996 when she was a Rotary Youth Exchange student from Brazil.

Club member Sandi Morrison was one of several in our club that participated and remained in touch with Bianca who she hosted for approximately nine months in 1996. Bianca has since become an American citizen, taught math in the public school system, and credits Rotary with changing her life. She was accompanied today by her husband and children.

We were also proud to have Mike Pugh, District Governor Nominee Designate, and Dawn Gulley, District Governor Elect, from Rotary District 5810 - North Texas as guests along with members of the Rotary Club of Grand Prairie, several former club members, and representatives from the City of Grand Prairie - Municipal Government and Grand Prairie ISD.

No meeting today, but we're kicking it back to last week's meeting with Kylie Wieden, Environmental Outreach Coordinator for the City of Grand Prairie, who brought us a great program about air quality awareness. Not only did she give us an overview regarding the causes of poor air quality, but we walked away with some actionable steps to improve the air quality in our community.
