The Grand Prairie State Bank was chartered in 1930 by G.H. Turner in the historic downtown section on the N.E. corner of Main Street & Center Street.
Grand Prairie State Bank (first photo) was robbed by Ray Hamilton, his brother Floyd and John Basden on March 19, 1934, stealing $1,543.
A new building, in that location (second photo), was constructed in 1950.
The bank pictured (third photo) was built in 1960 at 200 W. Main Street.
Tell us your memories of Grand Prairie State Bank. ✅Did you have an account there? ✅Did you work there - when? ✅ What department? ✅Who was the bank president, or other officers, when you worked there? ✅Did a family member work there - when?
Your memories are an important part of the history of Grand Prairie that we need for our archives. If you have many memories, we would love for you to write your story and bring or email it to the museum director [email protected] . Thank you.

Do you remember the Red R Coffee Shop? It was a GP small business started by Red Richardson around 1960. Good food and excellent cinnamon rolls., thanks to Mary Franklin who is pictured with Red in this February 18, 1970 Grand Prairie News clipping. It was located at 518 W. Main Street on the northeast section where the new GP Fire Station #1 is. This was in a scrapbook donated to the GPHO Museum. It's a great memory. What is your memory of the Red R.?

When you step into the entrance of the GPHO Museum, take time to see what has been added to the "Early Settlers" wall. Sign the visitor list and you are on your way to looking back at Grand Prairie's 165 years of history.
