It’s with great sadness that we say goodbye to our Bilingual family Support Advocate Priscilla! After a lot of reflection, she is saying goodbye to a chapter that has meant so much. ❤️
My time as a Bilingual Family Support Advocate at the Western Slope Center for Children has been one of the most meaningful chapters of my professional journey. I’ve had the privilege of supporting children and families through some of their most difficult moments, and I will forever be grateful for the lessons, connections, and experiences that came with this role.
This work taught me that advocacy is more than a job—it’s about listening, building trust, showing compassion, and making sure families feel heard, supported, and empowered. It challenged me, strengthened me, and helped me grow in ways I never expected.
As I close this chapter, I’m excited to share that I’m beginning a new journey. While I’m stepping into a new role, I’m taking everything this experience has taught me along the way—especially the importance of empathy, advocacy, and meeting people where they are.
I’m leaving this chapter with a grateful heart and so much appreciation for the people who supported me, taught me, and trusted me along the way. ❤️
Here’s to growth, new beginnings, and continuing to make a difference in the lives of others. ✨

🌟Feature Friday🌟

Today we recognize Detective Zac McCullough with the Grand Junction Police Department. Zac currently serves in the crimes against people unit and has been in that role for 6 years.

When asked about his favorite part of his job this is what he shared: “ My favorite part of what I do is being able to help people, especially children, who have no one else that can. Some of these children come from situations where the people who should protect them have failed them or worse. I like being able to build strong criminal cases against the individual(s) responsible and ultimately hold them accountable for whatever occurred.”

One thing Detective McCullough enjoys in his free time is video gaming. 🎮👾 “I am an avid “video gamer”, which helps me connect with many young people. They are surprised when a detective starts talking to them about video games (I am better than Officer Wiens at NCAAF 😊). I also enjoy golfing.” 🏌️

When asked about what he enjoys most when it comes to working with the Center, Detective McCullough shared this: “What I enjoy most about working with the MDT/Center is getting to see all the different entities working together toward a common goal, which is to protect children. I really enjoy hearing all the different opinions/ideas that people may have about a case. Sometimes hearing what other people, who may not be directly associated with law enforcement have to say, can generate new ideas on how to investigate a case. I have seen how the MDT working together can truly change the trajectory of a child’s life. “

Thank you, Detective McCullough, for being an important and valued member of our team! We appreciate all that you do for our community!💙✨

Our Bilingual family support advocate, Priscilla Perez, was able to attend the La Plaza bilingual health and resource fair in Palisade last week! La Plaza is an amazing organization that helps support the well-being of migrant and immigrant communities in Mesa County.

We are proud of one of our bilingual team members, Priscilla, for representing the Center and allowing our services to be accessible to all communities.
