It is a private, non-profit corporation made up of concerned business and professional people who volunteer their time and resources to make Grand Island a better place to live, work and play. In 1947, the first fragmented meetings were held in the formation of the Chamber of Commerce. A membership drive was undertaken and the Grand Island Chamber of Commerce was officially chartered in 1948. The

following year the first Grand Island Telephone book was born and still published on an annual basis. Proud of what it has accomplished over the years, the Chamber has a track record of getting on board to assist business and residential growth. It prides itself on dealing with concerns that impact the community. In 1972, The Chamber sought to have the abandoned Nike Base turned over to the Town of Grand Island for development. It is an educational, recreational facility home to the Golden Age Center, Reality Café Youth Center and Eco Island. The Chamber moved its office in 2005, remodeling a burnout building on the Town’s main street, bringing professional offices to a location across from the Town Hall. The Chamber continues to provide up–to-date tourism guides, Grand Island maps, brochures and promotional items. It also publishes the history of Grand Island Cinderella Island. It provides relocation kits and business site information along with a video for use as a marketing tool for businesses and organizations on the Island. The Citizen of the Year Award, Scholarship Award and Youth Ambassador Program were created in a effort to recognize those who have worked hard for the entire community in services, education and pride in the community. Island Happenings offers local businesses and organizations a chance to spotlight their endeavor. Held in conjunction with KidBiz, the event provides all of the community with a fun filled occasion. Over 300 members benefit from exposure, networking and becoming a part of a unified voice on business issues. Continuing to deliver a positive focus on membership, new programs and promotions, The Chamber strives to bring more business to the “Town Center”. It also continues to add benefits for our members, through various sponsorship and partnerships with other organizations and government. Our Mission

The Grand Island Chamber of Commerce is organized for the purposes of advancing the economic, industrial, professional, cultural and civil welfare of Grand Island; to encourage the growth of existing industries and businesses, while giving all proper assistance to any new firms or individuals seeking to locate in Grand Island; to support all of these activities believed to be beneficial to the community and area and, in general, to promote the welfare of all area citizens following always those policies intended to accomplish the greatest good for the greatest number.

Encouraging and supporting all local students in productive and positive post-graduation endeavors is a big part of our mission. This is the last reminder coming out. If you haven't registered your little one(s) for KidBiz 2026 & attended the mandatory parent training yet, you have until 7:00pm tomorrow (7/8/26) to do so and join us at the last parent training being held at the Chamber of Commerce Community Conference Room. We have another huge cohort this year and we are so looking forward to seeing all the great things your kiddos come up with this year! Don't miss out🙂

Before you get your Super Bowl party on, stop over and check out the brand new Occasions Event Center by Osteria! We had our member Christmas party there a few weeks ago and it was FANTASTIC! They’re having an open house this Sunday 2/8 from 11am until 3pm. If you’re planning a wedding, graduation, shower, retirement, meat raffle, anniversary, organizational meeting, reunion, birthday or ANY other kind of party for anywhere from 20 - 1,000 people, you’re gonna want to check this place out and meet the amazing team that runs it! 1841 Whitehaven Road (yep, formerly the Knights of Columbus building), tell them the GI Chamber sent you;-)

Our 2026 board of directors! This week we held our annual kickoff meeting and swearing in ceremony. As our board seats change this year we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our Past President Eric Fieblekorn for 15 incredible years of volunteerism and service as the President of the Grand Island Chamber of Commerce. Eric has led this organization with care, integrity, and a true passion for our community. His dedication strengthened the Chamber, supported our business members, and made a lasting impact on Grand Island as a whole. We are deeply grateful for his legacy and continued service as CEO & Executive Director.
