The Orange County Arts Council was formed in 2007 to meet the growing need for an umbrella organization in the region focusing on the arts. The Orange County Legislature and County Executive Ed Diana provided the funds from the county budget to help develop the Council. The Arts Council began as a collaborative effort between the Orange County Citizens Foundation and the County of Orange/Orange Ar

ts. In 2003, the Citizens Foundation, with financial support from NYS Assemblyman Howard Mills and County Executive Ed Diana, commissioned a Cultural Needs Assessment for Orange County. That study, released in 2004, called for the development of an Arts and Cultural Strategic Plan as well as the creation of an Arts Council. In 2005, the Citizens Foundation developed an outline for the Strategic Plan, and within a year, the county had completed the plan. In 2006, the Orange County Legislature accepted the Strategic Plan as presented. The following year, the county allocated the money in the county budget for development of an Arts Council. Today, a 14-member Board of Director oversees the Arts Council. Many of our programs are designed and implemented by volunteers serving on various committees.

The deadline to apply for the 2026 OCNYAC Featured Artists Grants is TONIGHT! 🎨✨

Artists of all mediums—visual, performance, digital, immersive, and beyond—are invited to submit original work inspired by this year’s theme:
ENCORE: Celebrating the Enduring Power of the Arts
A celebration of the artists, performers, traditions, and creative voices that have shaped Orange County and continue to build its future.

💰 Selected artists will receive $1,000–$3,000 to create new work.
🎭 All works will be presented at the 2026 OCNYAC Art Affair.
🤝 Awardees will join the Featured Artist Coalition (FAC).
✨ No application fee!

As a graduate in 2024 of Leadership Orange’s Signature Program, Brandi is honored to continue supporting its mission of developing informed, engaged community leaders.

A passionate advocate for the arts, Brandi believes creativity connects people, strengthens communities, and should be accessible to everyone. 🌟Every year The Orange County Arts Council Annual Art Awards recognize living individuals, organizations, and corporations which have made outstanding contributions to the arts in our community. Recipients may include individual artists, arts patrons, volunteers, non-profit cultural organizations, and corporate patrons. 

🌟We invite you to submit a nomination for a person, organization or corporation who has demonstrated excellence in the arts in our community.

🌟Nominations should be based on artistic excellence, unusual achievement, perseverance, and a deep commitment to the arts and the community. Recipients will be chosen by the Arts Council Board of Directors. The Awards will be presented at the Art Affair event to be held on Saturday, November 7, 2026 at Sugar Loaf Performing Art Center.

Call for Artists: OCNYAC - Art Affair ‘26

We are seeking artists of all media, including but not limited to visual, performance, digital, and immersive arts to create original works as part of the 2026 OCNYAC Featured Artists Grants.
All works must be presented at the 2026 annual fundraiser, the OCNYAC Art Affair, and awardees are expected to participate in the Featured Artist Coalition (FAC).

The theme this year is ENCORE: Celebrating the Enduring Power of the Arts, where we explore the ongoing story of the arts in Orange County - the artists, performers, traditions, and creative voices that have shaped our region and continue to build its future.
