The Golden Valley Garden Club--based in Golden Valley, Minnesota, encourages gardeners of all levels to increase their knowledge and love of gardening.

Interested in gardening? Come and join us! The Golden Valley Garden Club--based in Golden Valley, Minnesota--has provided more than 70 years of service to the community. We encourage gardeners with all levels of experience to join our ranks. You don't need to live in the City of Golden Valley to join, and membership is a real bargain: only $15 a year! Our mission is to stimulate the knowledge and love of gardening, to encourage conservation of natural resources, and to encourage all forms of home or community gardening. One month left to apply for a Spring 2027 Lawns to Legumes grant! 🐝🌼

Minnesota residents can receive up to $400 in reimbursement to create pollinator habitat with native plants. Awardees also get practical support, including webinars, step-by-step resources, an online gardening community, and the option to connect with a volunteer coach.

With more than 500 native bee species in Minnesota—plus butterflies, moths, and other essential pollinators—every planting can make a difference.

Alyson Phillips, owner and founder of Sassy Daffodil, provides garden consulting, design and education that help homeowners create an outdoor oasis that supports their lifestyle and our pollinators. She has experimented with and implemented Ecological Gardening and Sustainable Landscaping Design principles in her own urban gardens as well as suburban yards to cabin properties spaces. Leveraging science & creativity helps her balance art & function in the garden, especially when rooted in ecological methodology, continuous learning and collaboration. And, she likes to have fun and laugh lots along the way!

Dry Stone Walling Workshop

When: Saturday, October 10th from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Where: SiteOne Landscape Supply in Plymouth, MN.
Cost: $60 (*see note below)

Join architect and Assoc. Professor Andrew Blaisdell for a morning of hands-on learning at SiteOne Plymouth. Participants will build a small wall on site to learn the fundamentals of ancient dry stone walling.

Sometimes called Scottish sheep fencing, this particular method of non-mortared masonry creates walls that stand the test of time, with examples in Europe 500 years old. When built correctly, the result is a sturdy wall that lasts, and the act of building it is a meditation.

Andrew will also go over the basics of retaining wall construction, for which dry stone walling can be used.

Eye and ear protection as well as gardening gloves provided, and the few tools needed will be available.

The number of participants is limited. Garden Club members will be given priority for the first 24 hours. Register now if interested!

Spring bulb sale for fall planting!

Big day tomorrow for gardeners! Fall is a great time to plant and there are two opportunities to purchase plants.

Our Garden club will be selling bulbs to plant in fall for spring blooms. Our bulbs are carefully chosen to provide food sources in early spring for pollinators. We will be outside of City Hall at the GV Festival from 10:00 to 1:00. Don’t miss this opportunity to buy quality bulbs at low prices.

Then swing over to Valley Community Presbyterian Church where Blue Thumb is holding their fall plant sale, also from 10:00 to 1:00.

And then take advantage of our fine fall weather and plant!

This Saturday is the Blue Thumb Fall Native Plant Sale! 🌿🍁🌼

➡️ Fall is prime planting season for pollinator-friendly perennials. (Say that fast three times 😉) We’re excited to host four amazing native plant nurseries, Blazing Star Gardens, Ecoscapes Sustainable Landscaping and Native Nursery, MNL, and Northern Holler Nursery.

➡️ When you arrive, stop by the Blue Thumb Welcome Tent to get oriented. We’ll also have Golden Valley Garden Club, City of Golden Valley, MN - Local Government, Bassett Creek Watershed Management Commission, and Wild Ones Twin Cities, Minnesota sharing their resources and knowledge!

☕ Càphin Mpls will be selling coffee and matcha drinks! For water, a fountain will be available, please bring your own water bottle.

Highlights and Lowlights of Our 2026 Gardens

Meet other members and guests of the Golden Valley Garden Club as we share what we learned from the best and worst of our our 2026 home garden experiences.

Plan to rotate through breakout tables with a veggie focus, ornamental focus, and native focus but come flexible. Bring photos to pass if you have them in a shareable format.

Bring native or heirloom seeds or produce you have in overabundance too, with bags for sharing. Anything not claimed goes home with the bringer though!
