We want to thank Schine Hall, Ron Zimmerman and everyone that was involved in creating this wonderful tribute for our country's 250th birthday. Also many thanks to everyone that donated, we are very blessed and truly appreciate it.

Ron Zimmerman representing the Schine Gallery, presents a check to Gary Ackernecht, Commander of Harold Wilmot American Legion Post 137 and Auxiliary President April Montanye. Also pictured are Tony Ferraro, and Lynne Rubscha. The Schine on Spring- 2026 exhibit raised $2,712 to benefit the The Halold Wilmot American Legion Post 137 in Gloversville.

The mission of the Schine Gallery is to promote local artistic endeavors to benefit local nonprofit organizations. The recent exhibit opened on Thursday April 30, 2026 and ran over the next two weekends, concluding on May 14, 2026 as part of the Downtown Gloversville Art Walk.

The Harold Wilmot American Legion Post 137 was built in 1930 at 200 North Main Street. The home was dedicated to Private Harold Wilmot, the first Gloversville serviceman to die in WWI. The American Legion supports local veterans who have sacrificed much for our country.

The exhibit had a patriotic theme as a salute to veterans on the 250th anniversary of the USA. The Big Tree room was washed in red, white and blue, including vintage quilts. The big tree had a patriotic theme with White House Christmas ornaments prominently displayed.

The veterans room included patriotic quilts, memorabilia on loan from the Fulton County Museum & Historical Society and scrapbooks from the American Legion. In addition, Schine Gallery is extremely thankful for all of the veteran information and scrapbooks that Tony Ferraro had on display as well as artifacts from several local veteran’s families.

The exhibit showcased two artisans known locally for their artistic creativity:
Jack Horning, longtime Gloversville artist, exhibited many of his iconic colored pencil and ink drawings of local landmarks, scenery, and more. Bill Trojan, photojournalist and photographer, displayed a unique portfolio of varied genre including moon shots, nature photos, rock stars, and patriotic scenes.

Presentations were held in the Schine screening room. Ian Pitcavage, Fulton County Veterans Office Director gave two inspiring talks on the “Debts of Liberty and the American Legion”. Fulton County Historian Samantha Hall Saladino presented “Revolutionary Women”, acknowledging the important contributions of women in our country from 1776 to present.

Schine Gallery thanks all those who came to the exhibit and donated for the benefit of Harold Wilmot American Legion Post 137, 200 North Main Street, Gloversville.
