The crew from the Winyah Master Naturalist Program recently explored the freshwater forested wetlands at Black River State Park, getting hands-on with nature in the best way possible.

Wading through the wetlands, they identified macroinvertebrates and measured key water quality parameters to better understand the health of the ecosystem. The results? A thriving, healthy habitat full of life! 🐛🌱

These wetlands are so important for supporting wildlife, improving water quality, and protecting our natural landscapes. It’s amazing to see science, stewardship, and community come together! South Carolina State Parks
