In January, 2011, CNM made contact with The Faith Program and the Community Resource Center (CRC). to feed the homeless on a regular schedule, along with providing shelter during the winter. Because they are helping our homeless, it only makes sense to help their cause. The Faith program is doing daily feeding and rotating shelters. The shelters consist of four churches and one ranch; these shelte
rs are only open for use in the winter. As of April 1st 2011 the winter shelter closes for the summer. In Auburn they have a program called The Gathering Inn; it consists of four churches that house the homeless. These programs have stringent rules that must be followed. CNM knows these rules are in place for good reasons, but because of these rules some homeless unfortunately fall through the cracks and miss out on services. CNM makes a special effort to serve those that may have fallen through those cracks and may be under served by other ministries. When CNM is out looking for homeless, the first thing we ask is "are you hungry?", and if the answer is yes, CNM feeds them. People all need to eat. Starting March 1st, 2011, CNM has joined with the Faith program in Placerville to be part of their feeding schedule. As CNM’s part of the schedule, we will be assisting the Faith program feeding the homeless every 1st, 3rd, and 4th Tuesdays, and the 2nd Wednesday, of the coming months. Additionally, The Divide Food Basket has granted us some monies and product, but we are always looking for more funding and donations. In 2010 we were serving 10-15 homeless, depending on the day and town. Now, we will be serving 25-35 on each day we are on the schedule with the Faith program.
