Ever wonder where your buy-in actually goes?

Walk out to Station 62 near Buckeye and look at the training center. The tower, the facilities, the gravel, and this past year the largest concrete project we have ever taken on. All of it funded by volunteers, and a lot of that money came off a poker table.

That ground is not just ours. Departments from across the Divide and surrounding agencies train on it. So when your neighbor's house is on fire, the odds are good that whoever pulls the line learned part of that job on concrete you helped pour.

Same table has bought thermal imaging cameras, vehicle stabilization equipment for traffic collisions, and a Zoll Autopulse CPR device our crews have already used on real calls.

That is what a $100 buy-in and a Saturday night turns into.

Come Visit Georgetown Fire at Founders Day!

Founders Day is coming up September 20th, and we hope you’ll stop by the Georgetown Volunteer Fire Department booth and say hello!

We’ll have Georgetown Fire T-shirts and decals for sale, with proceeds benefiting the Georgetown Volunteer Fire Department and helping support our volunteers and the work they do in our community.

We’re also joining Operation Spark Arrest to put old fire hose to work in a new way. We’ll have a supply of retired fire hose cut to fit over trailer safety chains — FREE to anyone who needs them. These simple covers help keep dragging chains from striking the pavement and creating sparks that can start roadside and wildland fires.

Jeepers Jamboree, Inc. President Bob Sweeney presented a generous $5,000 check to Georgetown Volunteer Fire Department President Ken Pauley at the Georgetown Fire board meeting today.

Each year, Jeepers Jamboree holds a poker run to raise money for local nonprofits, and this year our volunteers were the lucky recipients!

We greatly appreciate having Jeepers Jamboree, Inc. as part of our community. In addition to their generous support of local organizations and causes, they have been tremendous stewards of the Rubicon Trail and the off-roading community for 74 years.

Jamboree participants are incredibly generous as well, supporting our local businesses during their visits. Our volunteers also hold a boot drive during check-in benefiting the Firefighters Burn Institute, which raised nearly $3,000 this year!

Thank you to Jeepers Jamboree, its participants, and everyone who continues to support our volunteers and our community!
