What a night!

We are so excited that we got to wrap up our 5th season by giving away two grants - one to the GMHS Track Team to get new uniforms, and one to the 4-H of Essex County!

Over the last 5 seasons, our trustees have given $50,000 to projects just like these in order to invest in making Georgetown even more awesome.

Weโ€™ll be back in the fall for Season 6!

Congratulations! $1500 was awarded tonight to Georgetown Mass Memories Road Show!

Awesome Idea:
UMass Boston does โ€œroad showsโ€ to create digital archives for communities in Massachusetts. They havenโ€™t been to Georgetown yet! Iโ€™m on the Historical Commission, and I think it would be great to do this road show for Georgetown.

How will this project make Georgetown more AWESOME?
Mass Memories Road Show enables people in a community to tell their stories - about themselves and their families and their memories of the town they live in. The digital archive will be available on the UMass Boston digital archives site for anyone to see and read.

Pure AWESOMENESS!!

The Largest Awesome Zone on Earth Is Right Here

The Awesome Foundation has chapters in 9 countries. Map them by proximity and more than a dozen geographic zones appear โ€” clusters where the same idea took root independently, in adjacent towns, among strangers who never coordinated. The Netherlands. Ontario. The Great Lakes. The Bay Area. The Hudson Corridor. The Chesapeake. Texas. The Twin Cities. Florida. Chicago-South Bend. The Pacific Northwest. New South Wales. South Australia. Armenia.
And then the North Shore, which outranks them all by chapter count.

Six chapters within an hourโ€™s drive. 359 grants. $359,000 into this coastline. Gloucester alone accounts for 227 of them โ€” one grant for every 132 residents in a city of 30,000.

Rockport at 49. Georgetown at 45. Ipswich at 32. Hamilton-Wenham at 4. Newburyport at 2 and still going.

The highest concentration of Awesome Foundation chapters anywhere in the world. Six communities, some just getting going, some that have been at it for years, all of them handing cash to neighbors with ideas.

The Essex County Pet Pantry

We want to give a HUGE and heartfelt thank you to Awesome, Georgetown for your incredibly generous $1,000 donation to the Essex County Pet Pantry. ๐Ÿ’œ

Since opening on 12/13/25, we have already helped 28 families in our community keep their pets fed and cared for during difficult times.

Hereโ€™s what your generosity has helped provide to local families:

๐Ÿถ Dog Donations
โ€ข 118.6 lbs of dry dog food
โ€ข 17 cans of dog food
โ€ข 5 containers of treats
โ€ข 8 dog toys
โ€ข 1 dog bed
โ€ข 3 crates
โ€ข 1 food storage container
โ€ข 2 blankets
๐Ÿฑ Cat Donations
โ€ข 157 lbs of cat litter
โ€ข 37.5 lbs of dry cat food
โ€ข 132 cans of cat food
โ€ข 10 containers of cat treats
โ€ข 8 Churus
โ€ข 8 cat toys
โ€ข 1 cat nip container
โ€ข 1 cat carrier

Your donation directly translated into full bowls, wagging tails, purring cats, and families who didnโ€™t have to make the heartbreaking choice between feeding themselves or feeding their pets.

This is what community looks like. We are beyond grateful for your belief in our mission and for investing in the families and animals of Essex County. We are just getting started and look at what weโ€™ve already accomplished together. ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’œ Thank you so much!!

Another AWESOME update!

Thank you to the Awesome Georgetown Foundation for their generous grant to It Takes A Herdโ„ข ~ A Dementia Friendly Equine Assisted Program ~ for Georgetown residents and their care partners. Awesome Georgetownโ€™s support of this program is part of the overall goal to make Georgetown more โ€œDementia Awareโ€ and inclusive for those living with dementia in the community.

Care partners and their loved ones living with dementia enjoyed a 4-week series of It Takes A Herdโ„ข hosted at Lazy J Ranch in Salisbury, MA. Karen Coppola, a certified dementia practitioner and long-time resident of Georgetown, created and facilitated the program providing participants with an opportunity to reconnect to their original roles within their partnership. An amazing experience of Connection, Camaraderie and Community with others who are walking through the journey of dementia.
