Starting in October, the Wild Spartans Series is back! Join 4-H staff as we take a look into life working with fisheries and wildlife! Follow along as we climb through bogs, peer into bear dens, mist net songbirds, snorkel for fish, or perhaps even tag deer. Meet natural resources professionals, learn about their field work, and the education and career path they've followed to get there. Monthly Sessions will be held on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 6:30pm EST starting in October. Each 30-60 minute session will feature 1-2 guest speakers. Youth will be encouraged to ask questions to learn more through a live Q&A with scientists. This free virtual series is open to 4-H and non-4-H youth ages 12-19 years. Youth ages 5–19 from across Michigan can enter for free to showcase their projects—from livestock and showmanship to art, STEM, and more! 💡🎬 Plus, participants can apply for scholarships up to $1,000! 💰

Join our 4-H Beginner Knitting Class and start your knitting journey!

Perfect for: ✅ Brand new knitters ✅ Anyone who needs a refresher

Class 1: Monday, August 24th
Class 2: Wednesday, August 26th
Class Time: 2pm – 4pm
Location: Otsego County Library

Cost: FREE!

During this two-session series, you'll learn:
🧶 Long Tail Cast On
🧶Knit Stitch
🧶Purl Stitch
🧶How to Bind Off Your Work

Plus, we'll explore:
✨ Different types of yarn
✨ How to read a yarn label
✨ Basic knitting skills for future projects

Register for the first session and you'll automatically be enrolled in the second session. Registration covers both classes.

All materials are provided, but you're welcome to bring your own yarn and needles if you have them. (Light colored yarn and wood needles are recommended if you are purchasing materials).

This class is a prerequisite for our future "Knitting Mittens That Fit" workshop.

This program will cover key topics including housing, nutrition, flock health, and marketing strategies. Participants will gain valuable skills and increased confidence in broiler production practices.
