Happy Opening Day! 🎉🐕🥳

10/04/2026

We had another delightful afternoon at the Gates Farmer's Market today. We loved chatting with neighbors about the things they love about Gates, and sharing our collective dreams for the future. And we had lots of fun doing face painting and playing yard games together. We thoroughly enjoyed watching the Costume Contest. There were so many applicants and the judges had a tough job picking the winners - we loved them all! Thanks for stopping by today and we hope we'll see you again soon at our next event or group meeting. Have a great week, friends! 💜

Can you guess where this lovely little garden is? We stumbled upon it while volunteering with Keep Gates Clean this morning. Do you know of any other public gardens in town? Maybe we should build more...what do you think?

We'll be at the next (and final) Gates Farmer Market this Sunday 10/4 10am-1pm with our Info booth and lots of fun and games for kids and adults! Stop on over chat! See you this weekend! 💜🎃

If you found yourself in a relationship with someone with low self-esteem and you weren't willing to leave, how would you go about helping them feel better about themselves?

Love them unconditionally. Not accept them as they are, but fight to help them change for the better.

Building self-confidence cannot be bestowed upon a person. It must be built from within. This requires constant encouragement. A helping hand. Leading by example.

Your community behaves in exactly the same way.

So start small. Do the incremental things. Address the smallest things that are wrong. The chipping paint. The weeds in front of city hall. The lack of connection with your neighbor.

Self-esteem only responds to self-improvement.

We'll be discussing our upcoming events like this weekend's final Farmer's Market, Trunk or Treat, and Fall Family Festival as well as ongoing and future projects like our Supply Donation Drive, Neighborhood Walking Surveys, Restaurant Dine Out, and more. All are welcome to attend and join the conversation!

Destination Gates is a group of Gates, NY neighbors excited to connect, learn, advocate, and tackle hands-on projects together to make Gates into the safe, supportive, delightful town we would like it to be. 💜
