The difficulty of pulling old bolts at Allenspur turned out to be similar to the ratings – tough!! 25+ years of corrosion, mixed metals and caulk put up a tough battle, but we persevered! We were able to replace all the lead bolts on French Connection and Flake Fest and the first two bolts on Yellowstone Poseidon Adventure with new glue-in bolts! Many thanks to the ASCA for the hardware and the support of local climbing organizations re-bolting efforts.

We were also able to share a lot of knowledge about fixed protection and the rebolting process. A huge thanks to all of the volunteers! We can't do this without you!!

Remember, our next trail work evening will be June 24th at the Gallatin Tower. We'll be doing another rebolting day this summer. Watch for details. Please come join us!

Don’t forget! Rebolting day at Allenspur tomorrow, 6/6. We’re going to meet at 9 am at Carter’s Bridge and finish up around 4 pm. We can use volunteers for assistance with moving gear, hanging ropes, and ground support. Bring your climbing gear and get some pitches in too! Food and refreshments afterwards!

Also, learn about the bolts and hardware used, ways to evaluate fixed protection, and see a demonstration of the replacement process on the ground.

The weather is looking better! So, we’ve rescheduled the Allenspur rebolting day for Saturday, 6/6!!

• 𝗘𝗻𝗱: Back at the cars around 4:00 PM 🕒

🧠 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 & 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀:
• See different types of bolts and hardware common in SW Montana 🛠️

Well, some of the Bastard has been taken out of Co**ie Bastards! SMCC and volunteers built a new belay platform under the route. This will make for a cozy belay and no more erosion 🎉 on the slope down toward Flake Fest. You do still have to manage the climb!

The evening started out a bit wet, but everyone persevered! In addition to the platform, we trimmed up the trail, cleaned out some of the steps and blocked some switchback cut-offs. Thank you to all of the volunteers! We can’t do this without you!

Also, a huge thank you to Mary Sue for the exceptional food - Chicken Diavolo with Orzo and Aunt Dorothy’s Meatballs!

Our next trail work evening will be at the Gallatin Tower on:

We want to pass along that the Forest Service will be closing the Fairy Lake Road for maintenance from April 20, 2026 to July 1.
