The Muskegon Land Bank was formed in 2006 to transform vacant, tax delinquent and abandoned property for the benefit of the surrounding property, to improve the community, stabilize the area, giving low income families the chance to own a home

2201 Fifth St (corner of Hackley). The Land Bank bought it from the auction (all taxable entities will be made whole) and have it scheduled for demo before the end of the year. Another step in the right direction. Hope cannot be defeated.

Last day of the 2026 Land Bank Summit. So nice to see colleagues, long time and new.

The impact of the Blight Elimination Program has been statewide and tremendous. Jeff and Adam were honored the night before for their part in the State LB admin of these funds.

Also pictured are Eric Schertzing and Michelle Thompson. They have been integral in the expansion of the LB Association as consultant and our first Executive Director and received recognition from our Land Bank Board chair, Rachel Nelson.

1691 Pine, the last of our Blight Elimination Program projects, has been completed.
Our BEP funds totaled over $8.5 million dollars and ranged from a one bedroom small house rehab to replacing the roof on a huge, private multifamily project.

2832 Baker, a demo funded by a partnership of the Community Foundation for Muskegon County and the Muskegon County Land Bank. Transite siding (see last pic) has been removed as part of asbestos remediation. The only remaining house on the block is being removed as part of land assembly for future development. Addition by subtraction.
