The Foundation For Hope Village

The Foundation For Hope Village Dissatisfied with the few services available for individuals with similar diagnoses at that time, Mrs. The first home was opened in 1970 with six residents.

Our mission is to ensure that individuals with intellectual and developmental challenges thrive in a loving, safe, supportive community in which they live, learn, and work with purpose and dignity. Hope Village is a non-profit organization in Friendswood, Texas, founded by Bill and Lucille Williams in 1967 when they sought care for their daughter, Sally, who had been diagnosed as an infant with de

velopmental disabilities. Williams became the driving force behind the planning and building of the facility. She sought to create a place that would be a loving home for her daughter and others with similar disabilities. While Mr. and Mrs. Williams are no longer with us, the original vision and mission for Hope Village lives on and has evolved throughout the years into a place that has cared for many priceless souls while touching countless hearts along the way. There are many parts to Hope Village, in addition to the now five residential homes that reside on our 18-acre campus. The Hope Village Resale Shop, another integral part of our campus, offers unique thrift items at discounted prices such as clothing for the entire family, household items, books, toys, and more. The shop's current hours are 10 am to 4 pm Wednesday through Friday and 10 am to 3 pm on Saturday. "Like new" item donations are currently being accepted and may be dropped off during normal resale hours of operation, or within the 24-hour drop box located on the north side of the shop. For large item donations such as furniture, we do request you call us at (281) 996-7045 to schedule a drop-off appointment. All proceeds directly support Villager programming and services. Our facility is also home to an amazing day program available to participants Monday through Friday. The Foundation for Hope Village is a 501 (c)(3) organization without state or federal funding. On Tuesday we had cake wars! We joined together to create 4 cakes, with each classroom designing one for the competition. Each cake was judged by appearance and flavor. Most Creative was presented to Group Lead Jonah & Susan's team ( #3) & Most Delicious Looking was presented to Group Lead Courtney's team ( #1). It was such a sweet way to enjoy the day.

Many thanks to Bill and Helen Crowder Foundation for helping to stock our meat freezers! With the cost of meat increasing our meat freezer supply has been dwindling. The nice gentlemen at Jackson’s Processing dropped of the finished products. We are so incredibly appreciative of our Hope Village family of supporters that help propel our mission forward.

On May 15th we celebrated Nascar Day by building and decorating our own racetracks as teams. The cheering fans in the "stands" of our tracks all had so many personalities and everyone had so many laughs as we raced our cars. It truly was a delightful group effort.

On Tuesday the Admin Team and House Managers were treated to an surprise Appreciation Day. So many beautiful notes were added to the appreciation wall, and the everyone left feeling loved. The "vote on the most likely house manager to say this" game was a hoot too. Lots of laughter and hugs all around.

We were delighted to celebrate Astronaut Day with a visit from our very own City of Friendswood - Government Mayor . Mike gave a lively talk about his time in space and answered a myriad of questions from Villagers about life in space. Everyone had a blast looking at the Nasa photos he brought and getting to take a group photo with him at the end. We are so thankful to have people like Mayor Foreman as a friend of Hope.
