Great to connect with fellow board members and PACFA President Mike Batchelor at the recent Pennsylvania Community Foundation Association conference in Hershey!

Pictured with the group is BBCF President & CEO Trenton Moulin, who has served on PACFA’s board and as its treasurer since the association was founded in 2021. We’re grateful for the opportunity to work alongside community foundations across Pennsylvania, building relationships and finding opportunities to collaborate.

That spirit of collaboration is also at the heart of a recent article from the Council on Foundations, which highlights BBCF, PACFA and the work of Pennsylvania community foundations around shared challenges, including the effort behind Act 50. The article includes perspectives from both Trenton and Mike on what can happen when foundations from communities of different sizes work together.

Help preserve the history of the Venango County Fair, and make your gift go twice as far! 🎡

The Venango County Fair Alumni Fund is working to create a permanent home for the photographs, awards, records, memorabilia, and stories that tell generations of fair history.

And right now, an anonymous donor is matching gifts to the fund up to $10,000! Gifts made by December 1 will help support plans for a new archive and display space at the Venango County Fairgrounds.

BBCF is proud to serve as the fiscal sponsor for this effort to keep an important piece of Venango County history right here in the community where it was made. 💛

Today, we’re celebrating Manufacturing Day and the people, skills, and opportunities that help keep our local manufacturing workforce moving forward. 🔧

For Venango County resident Joseph Downing, access to training through Pitt-Titusville’s Manufacturing Assistance Center helped turn an interest in the trades into a career. With support from the William & Elizabeth Charitable Fund for the Trades, Joseph was able to gain practical manufacturing skills before stepping into his first role as an entry-level machinist at Acutec Aerospace.

Since then, he’s continued to grow within the company and is now helping think about its future workforce as a member of a talent pipeline committee.

Joseph’s story is a great example of what can happen when local training, local employers, and local philanthropy come together.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Grantseekers Open House! 💛

We welcomed nearly 40 community members into the BBCF office to learn more about our new grantmaking process, ask questions, and share more about the organizations and initiatives they represent.

More than anything, we appreciated the opportunity to connect one-on-one and have meaningful conversations about the work happening throughout our communities. We’re excited about this new approach to grantmaking and grateful to have so many nonprofit partners helping us put it into action.

The goal is to make the process more efficient for our nonprofit partners while helping BBCF direct funding where it can make the greatest difference in the communities we serve.

There’s a big difference between learning how to do something and seeing what you’re capable of creating.

House of Trades participants gain hands-on experience while completing projects that are genuinely needed in their community. Along the way, they’re building trade skills, but also confidence, teamwork, communication, leadership, and experience that can help prepare them for the workforce.

With support from the William & Elizabeth Charitable Fund for the Trades, those lessons become something tangible: tools in someone’s hands, projects completed for neighbors, and stronger paths toward employment.

Sometimes the impact of a grant becomes something you can see, touch, and use every day.

Through Keystone SMILES’ House of Trades program, participants have put their developing skills to work on projects throughout the community, including constructing three accessible ramps.

One of those ramps helped an 84-year-old woman safely access her home and gave her family greater peace of mind. 💛

It’s a powerful example of what can happen when workforce training and community needs come together.
