From demolition and exposed beams to a vibrant, modern workspace, the transformation of the fifth floor at 100 Seneca has been incredible to witness.

What was once a deteriorated and underutilized space has been thoughtfully restored through adaptive reuse, preserving the historic character of the building while creating a functional environment for today’s businesses and organizations.

We’re honored that this work was recently recognized with the Oil Region Alliance's Historic Preservation Award for Adaptive Reuse.

These photos offer a glimpse into the journey from early demolition and construction to the finished space that now serves as home to organizations, entrepreneurs, and community partners helping move the Oil Region forward.

🏛️✨ We’re incredibly proud to share that 100 Seneca has been recognized with a Historic Preservation Award celebrating those who are going the extra mile to preserve, revitalize, and invest in the communities of the Oil Region National Heritage Area. 💚

This recognition means so much because 100 Seneca has always been about more than just restoring a building. It’s about creating a space where creativity, connection, entrepreneurship, and community can continue to grow inside one of Oil City’s historic treasures.

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported the vision, attended events, collaborated on projects, and helped breathe new life into this space over the years. The ripple effects of preservation reach far beyond bricks and mortar. They help tell the story of who we are and where we’re going together. 🌟

We’re also thankful to The Derrick for covering the event and helping share these stories of community investment and preservation across the region.

Some people shape a community. Others become part of its foundation.

As Susan Williams retires after 22 years of leadership at the Venango Area Chamber of Commerce, we’re reflecting not only on her impact across Venango County, but also on her connection to this building.

Long before we were 100 Seneca, when these halls were still home to a bank, Susan worked here. Decades later, she returned not as an employee, but as a leader, bringing people together once again within these same walls.

Last week, it was an honor to host her retirement celebration on the 5th floor, surrounded by a community she helped build, support, and connect for more than two decades.

Susan, your impact on this region is lasting, and your story is forever part of this building’s story.

Thank you for everything. 💜

When the water rises, so does this community.

Yesterday evening, Bert Klapec Inc answered the call and delivered five tons of sand to help us prepare. Today, students from Pathways Adolescent Center rolled up their sleeves and bagged every single pound of it.

Five tons. Hundreds of bags. Countless shovelfuls.

We are incredibly grateful to BKI for their emergency delivery and to the Pathways students for their hard work, energy, and willingness to help protect 100 Seneca.

This building has stood for nearly a century, but it stands strongest because of the people around it.

Thank you for showing up. 💛

Oil Creek has shaped this community for generations.

In 1926, ice jams and backwater flooding along the Allegheny River and Oil Creek caused one of the most devastating flood events in our region’s history. Downtown streets filled with water and ice. Bridges collapsed. Businesses were shuttered. It became one of the most photographed floods the Oil Region had ever seen.

Earlier this month, The Derrick revisited the long history of ice and flooding in Oil City, including the events of 1926 and the major flood of 1982.

Nearly a century later, the creek behind 100 Seneca is once again carrying heavy ice.

Moments like this are a reminder of the power of nature, and the resilience of Oil City.

From the floods of 1926 to the revitalization of 100 Seneca, this building, and this community, have weathered a lot.

We’re grateful for the history that connects us and for the continued efforts that help protect downtown today.

Stay safe, Oil City. 💙
