So many thoughts as camp comes to a close. Gratitude is near the top of the list. Gratitude for God's provision. Gratitude for God's protection. Gratitude for each and every single person that He brought to camp this year: campers, volunteers, staff, and everyone else we forgot to mention. You were brought here for a reason. There are no accidents.

In the seconds that follow the final camp general session, after everyone is officially dismissed, that's when we are able to capture some of the most genuine and heartfelt moments. Friendship. Memories. Gratitude. So many emotions. Especially week seven. Especially during a week like this.

But we are thankful. Thankful that God isn't passive. He is actively involved in our lives if we allow Him. Our prayer for all of you is that God will help you find:

Your place.
Your people.
Your passion.
Your purpose.

For many of us, it's Camp Attitude.

We want to leave you with these two photos and some words of encouragement: We do NOT say goodbye. We say see you later.

Last night, an incredibly frightening situation unfolded just outside Camp Attitude’s gates. By God’s faithfulness and the quick, courageous actions of our staff, campers, volunteers, and law enforcement, everyone at camp is safe.

When asked to shelter in place, our campers, volunteers, and staff responded immediately and calmly, following directions and caring for one another. We are incredibly proud of them.

We are deeply grateful for God’s protection and for the officers who responded so quickly. Thank you to everyone who has prayed for Camp Attitude—your prayers mean more than you know.

***NEWS RELEASE***

On August 3, 2026 at approximately 7:22pm the Linn County Sheriff's Office and Oregon State Police responded to a report of a male driver shooting a handgun from his vehicle parked by the entrance to Riverbend Campground in Linn County. It was determined that the suspect, David Duncan, 69 years of age, of Oregon City, Oregon was traveling west on Hwy 20 and had crashed his vehicle and left the roadway. Witnesses reported his truck was on the side of the road and he had exited it and was acting erratically. He was seen urinating and then shooting his handgun across the highway.

Riverbend Campground and Camp Attitude, a free camp for youth who experience physical or cognitive disabilities, were put on lockdown immediately. Oregon State Police Troopers arrived on scene and attempted contact with the driver who was back inside his truck. Duncan then put the truck in drive to continue westbound on Hwy 20. As the vehicle approached law enforcement, shots were fired by Oregon State Police Troopers.

Duncan sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital for medical treatment. No bystanders or law enforcement were injured during the incident.

The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation and no additional information is being released at this time. Anyone who witnessed the incident or may have information regarding the events leading up to the incident is encouraged to contact Detective Sgt. Joe Clausen, Albany Police Department at 541-917-7680. Pursuant to Linn County Use of Deadly Force (SB 111) protocols the Albany Police Department is conducting an independent investigation of the officer involved shooting.
