Delaware Building & Construction Trades Council Endorses Seven State Senate Candidates

NEWARK, Del. – The Delaware Building & Construction Trades Council today proudly announced its endorsement of Senators Jack Walsh, Nicole Poore, Marie Pinkney, Spiros Mantzavinos, Daniel Cruce, Ray Seigfried, and Kyra Hoffner for election to the Delaware State Senate.

These legislators have consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to Delaware's working families by standing up for fair wages, safe workplaces, strong apprenticeship and workforce training programs, collective bargaining rights, responsible economic development, and policies that create family-sustaining careers for Delaware workers. Their leadership has helped strengthen Delaware's middle class.

The Council also recognizes each of these Senators for their strong support of Senate Bill 272, legislation that would have expanded the use of Project Labor Agreements (PLAs) on qualifying public school construction projects. Project Labor Agreements help ensure projects are completed by highly trained craftsmen and women while promoting labor stability, preventing work stoppages, encouraging apprenticeship opportunities, and delivering quality construction for Delaware taxpayers.

"These Senators have earned the trust of Delaware's union construction workers," said James Maravelias, President of the Delaware Building & Construction Trades Council. "They have repeatedly stood with working men and women when it mattered most. They understand that investing in skilled local workers means investing in safer job sites, stronger communities, and a stronger Delaware economy."

"The Delaware Building Trades are proud to support elected leaders who recognize that good public policy should create opportunity for working families while delivering the highest quality projects for taxpayers. These Senators have consistently demonstrated that commitment."

The Delaware Building & Construction Trades Council is the only organization that represents workers across all of Delaware's construction trades. Through its affiliated local unions, the Council advocates for fair wages, safe working conditions, world-class apprenticeship and workforce training programs, and policies that create family-sustaining careers while ensuring public and private construction projects are built by the safest and most highly skilled workforce in the industry.
