Friends of the IDF (FIDF) Pennsylvania & Southern New Jersey Their job is to look after Israel. Ours is to look after them. students with academic scholarships.

The Pennsylvania & Southern New Jersey Chapter of Friends of the IDF was recently founded in February, 2011. It is comprised of Pennsylvania, plus 3 counties in New Jersey including Gloucester, Burlington and Camden Counties. Although the chapter is new, Philadelphians are no strangers to the wonderful work and support of FIDF. So far this year, our generous supporters have adopted the “Gadsar Gol

ani” Battalion, funded a gym for the Yiftach Brigade of the IDF Northern Gaza Division, refurbished a club in Efraim Regional Brigade, and continue to support IMPACT! We are deeply appreciative of all of our donors who support the wellbeing and educational needs of the brave IDF soldiers.

Israel has a new president! Today we congratulate Isaac Herzog for winning the election to become Israel's 11th President. Prior to his political career, Herzog served in the IDF as a major officer in Unit 8200 of the Intelligence Corps. Herzog comes from an illustrious line of prominent Israeli leaders, including father, Gen. Chaim Herzog, Israel's 6th President; grandfather Yitzhak HaLevi Herzog, Israel's first chief rabbi; and uncle Abba Eban, Israeli orator, author, diplomat! We look forward to partnering with President Herzog to secure the futures of Israel's brave soldiers.

“It was meaningful for me to see how much my soldiers accomplished during Operation Guardian of the Walls.” — Second Lt. Simcha, a commanding officer in the IDF Search and Rescue Brigade Last week, Lt. Simcha led a company of soldiers who were in basic training to hospitals around Israel. There, they tended to Israeli civilians affected by the heaviest rocket fire from Gaza since 2014.

This dapper groom is Captain Aviel, a deputy company commander in the 101st Paratroopers' battalion. After the intense operation near the Gaza border, during which he worked with his soldiers for the security of the citizens of Israel, Aviel changed out of his uniform into a suit in order to marry his beautiful bride, Neta. Shortly before the big celebration of his and Neta’s nuptials, Aviel asked to send you this message: "Our mission is above all, and we do it wholeheartedly - as long as it takes. We work hard, fully understand why we are here and see the results with our own eyes." We wish Neta and Captain Aviel nothing but the best, and thank Aviel for protecting Israel and its civilians!
