The Fort Belvoir Professional Firefighters Local F273 was established by the International Association of Firefighters on October 18th, 1992 with 24 founding members. The Local has expanded and grown since the early days as the Department has grown. Today we represent firefighters, Firefighter/Medics and Fore Marshals of the Fort Belvoir Fire and Emergency Services. Since the beginning Local F273 has worked tirelessly to better the health, welfare and safety of its members as well as increase the fire protection of the garrison. Local F273 was instrumental in securing funds from Congress during the 2009 Base Realignment and Closure for two fire stations and the staffing needed to man those stations. One of those stations represented an increase of the fire protection by adding an additional Engine and Truck company to the Garrison. The Officers of F273 strive to work along side Fort Belvoir Fire and Emergency Services leadership to meet the Department's values and mission statement.

GATE UPDATE: TEMPORARY CHANGES OCT. 29–31

Please plan ahead for the following gate access changes:

Thursday, Oct. 29

Lieber Gate: Open 24/7

Tulley Gate: Open 6 a.m.–6 p.m.

Friday, Oct. 30

Lieber Gate: Open 24/7

Tulley Gate: Closed for repairs

Pence Gate: Open 6 a.m.–6 p.m.

Saturday, Oct. 31

Tulley and Lieber Gates: Return to normal operating hours

Pence Gate: Closed

The Visitor Center will remain open to process online passes only. Lieber Gate’s search lane will be available for commercial traffic and for issuing hand passes during these changes.

Important: If you need to pick up a pass, please do so on Thursday, Oct. 29.

Fort Belvoir Professional Fire Fighters signed their charter on this date 32 years ago . Today, none of our original plank owning members are left, they’ve all gone on to retirement. The Local would like to thank them all for their foresight and commitment to organized labor. It was their hard work and sacrifices that made our contract and Local possible. Happy Birthday Brothers and Sisters!

TRAFFIC ALERT: Walker Gate Hours to Shift Oct. 5

FORT BELVOIR, Va. — Starting Monday, Oct. 5, Walker Gate will limit inbound traffic to school buses, pedestrians, and bicyclists from 6 to 9 a.m.

Outbound lanes will be open to ALL TRAFFIC from 6 to 9 a.m. on days when Fairfax County Public Schools are in session.
Walker Gate will be closed on all FCPS holidays.

Attempt Made to Revive Chances of a 2027 Federal Pay Raise

More than 100 House and Senate members, almost all of them Democrats, have joined a letter to the party leaders of both chambers backing a pay raise of at least 3.8 percent for all federal employees.

The letter follows President Trump’s recent message to Congress restating his intent to pay law enforcement personnel a 3.8 percent raise, while freezing pay rates for everyone else, should Congress not pass specific language regarding a raise by the end of the calendar year.

In that message, Trump cited the law enforcement raise as benefitting recruitment and retention, and further “proposed a 5-7 percent pay increase for service members given the critical support they provide our nation. The same rationale applies to all federal workers,” the letter says.
